RE: Gardening!
My plants have not yielded one tomato and yes, the leaves are brownish/yellow.

I think it's a combination of planting them too late and the wicked heat/humidity we've had this summer.

Oh well. They're plentiful cheap enough at the farmer's market.

RE: Gardening!
I'm harvesting tons of cherry tomatoes. Then I have 3 heirloom ones, I think they mislabeled one because they look more like Romas, then I have stripey ones too. Not ready yet. It's been a cooler than normal summer in California so everything is late.
Ate one cucumber and it was absolutely perfect.

RE: Gardening!
I am so sad to hear about people's troubles... from rabbits to blight to wilt... I guess if a few weeds (okay, knee high weeds, but still) are all I have to worry about, I'm doing okay.

RE: Gardening!
Our tomato blight is confined to one plant, primarily. We're harvesting 6-7 tomatoes per day, roughly. YUM! I ate bruschetta every day for a week. Now I've moved on to fresh salsa.

We have some ripening pumpkins! Only the pie pumpkins so far, I'm not sure how the jack-o-lantern sized ones are doing, though. We have some beautiful red peppers ready to harvest.

Our zucchini apparently decided it's too hot and dry and stopped producing. But we still have some yellow squash coming on.

One cucumber plant died but the other one is producing nicely. We won't have enough to do pickles but that's quite OK - we still have about a dozen jars from last year.

RE: Gardening!
I was unpacking some boxes yesterday and found my one-gallon weed sprayer jug. I used it as a form of pressurized running water/faucet when I lived in the van two summers ago. YAY! I'm so happy I found it... they are usually about 20 bucks.

Anyhow, I had half a litre of vinegar here in the house, and I did half water, half vinegar and a healthy squirt of Ivory dish soap. I just sprayed the hell out of the weeds in the garden. Here's hoping it works! I need more vinegar now. I like it on my french fries. LOL

RE: Gardening!
It's official. I did not get ONE tomato this year. I usually have a bumper crop but not this year. Oh well. Better luck next year.

RE: Gardening!
NKB come to my house - we are swimming in them. We made salsa and spaghetti sauce today and still have a huge box of tomatoes plus more to pick!
