Ugh. I feel for you, I really do. It's awful. I'm sorry.
I completely understand. I'm real sorry this happened.

Jen M.
I finally got into my place on Monday, 2/2, only to find that the mess was still here. Turns out it was the debris from a new yr's party. The maintenance people for the building cleaned it up, in a rather half ased way. I mopped again, and wiped down the walls, swamped out the shower...... bleh.....

So, they did change the lock, but they used an old one. It was a little sticky, and the #2 maintenance guy thought blasting it with wd-40 was going to fix it. He leaves, I lock the door. Later, I decide to go out and feed the parking meter, but my lock won't open, and I am trapped in my place. Ugh. I call the building manager, who apologizes profusely about the mess, and the effed up situation with the keys. I tell him that's nice but it's not why I am calling. He calls the Maintenance guys to get me out. I ended up sliding my keys under the door so they could open it from the outside. Meanwhile, my meter is running out, and I'm afraid to leave while they work on my door. I guess the good news is that the door is fixed, and I got to my meter seconds before getting a ticket.

I am sleeping in the new place, and have been since the 2nd. Most of my stuff is still at my old place, because I am moving mostly alone, and it's been either way below freezing , or raining outside. Exhausting.

Thanks for all your support, guys. It means a lot to me.
I'm so sorry you don't have any help. I really wish I was closer or had a few days I could take off to come help. I would.

Sad

*hugs* Good luck with the rest of the move!

Goddamn, that's a lot of shit to go through. Having to move into a place you have scrub and then not even having something as fundamental as a functioning lock is too much. I'd almost advise you to tell your landlord to fuck right the fuck off, but then where else would you go? I hope things get better really soon!
I'm inclined to agree with you, Anastasia, but like you said: Where else would she go? I think she's definitely better off there than back at home.

Maybe you can scrimp and save and try to find another place once your lease is up at this place.

Then again, maybe things will get better.

Wow I hope this was just a bad start and that things get better. Sounds like the building manager is at least responsive. *hugs*
