What is good in your life?
I am going on course this coming week and my coworker is also going so he can give me a ride everywhere (to/from the nearby town and to/from the hotel and the school every day). I also like the town and look forward to visiting!
Another good thing: I can see grass at the edges of the melted snow! Finally... signs of spring...
My good news is that I'm looking forward to being able to open up all of the windows in my apartment today and getting some fresh air in here! It's been such a long winter...
Vanessa
DH has his major paper for one of his classes done, so now he can quit bugging me!!!
Oh Vanessa, me too! It is in the 60s, which is warm and late in coming. Glorious fresh air!
Several good things...
~Just got new tires for my car...that's a relief
~I just signed up with Netflix and now I'll actually be able to watch shows & movies that I'm actually interested in instead of just surfing around.
~I changed my cell phone plan back to the 450 minutes/month plan down from the 900 minutes/month plan I previously had. I had only upped my minutes because a certain somone I was talking to a lot didin't have Verizon. Now that we're not talking, I can start saving money again. Whoo hoo!
Vanessa ME TOO! It's glorious. I had the window open yesterday too. It's only 6 degrees right now © but promises to warm up to 13 today. I'm in heaven.
Some other good things... ALL of my laundry is done! I'm ecstatic. Laundry has been the bane of my existence my whole life, but I just got my very first (big) washing machine ever last week (used to be slave to the laundromat! or my baby sized soaker for emergencies). I know I sound like a dork, but I don't care. The whole house smells Fleecy Fresh and I love it!
Another good thing... the trucking place apparently did not go bankrupt (yet) so I have lessons all next week and another road test on Friday. Whee! Hopefully I'll pass this time
One more: sunny spring day!! WHEEE
DH can finally put 50% weight on his surgically repaired broken leg! So, this morning, I put the coffee pot parts in the sink and he washed them, and then I put everything on the countertop and he made us coffee! Breakthrough!
My work day started out kind of meh but rapidly improved thanks to an event that needs to have planning. Basically the people wanted to have a set up in a room for 70 people. The room is really meant for 50 max. Anyway the setup the person had was simply impossible because it would just not have fit within the confines of the room, so the boss told me to try to visualize a solution. My idea was to first draw a rough sketch of the room which basically could give an idea of the room size. It wasn't adequate since the room obviously has doorways, a kitchen area that staff need to access, and most importantly, a couple of alcoves which turned out to have a great impact on planning. The cool part was when the boss explained the concept of "scaling" to me.
I had experience with the concept in maps, but never made the connection with an application like this. Needless to say, it was revolutionary. Armed with a 30' tape measure I decided to be a cartographer and I extensively mapped the room. After this, I made scale models (on paper) of typical furniture used in a meeting and managed to make a configuration that allowed 70 people to be in a room meant for 50 without being unmanageable. I showed the boss and he was delighted.
We went into a brainstorming session about how to improve this concept and it was riveting. For the first time ever my ideas were seriously considered. Hell, I've even been brainstorming now (my mind is especially active in evenings, whereas in mornings my mental activity resembles coma victims). The fact that he said it was "fabulous" really helps my esteem. For many years I've had low self-esteem when it comes to life, but especially in work. It's mostly because I've had menial jobs that are meaningless to me where anybody, even a business major could do it. This job allows me to use my mind productively and it makes a huge difference to me to realize my talents and abilities have a use in the working world.
I'm just beaming right now.
We got a new showerhead and it is just like being in a rainforest!!! I'm heading there now.....
I just got a new computer desk. I really like that it's taking less space than my old one.

Since switching to ceramic bowls her acne is gone. She still needs her anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication (without it she pulls her fur out and is definitely bipolar or something of that sort) but otherwise she's as good as can be. She's almost downright social now. Thank dog for the good times.
Ok, I think that's enough!
WOW! Yay for Kami!!! My own SNK (special needs kitty) is acting oddly normal these days, too. I've had a loft bed for several months that he's been terrified to jump up into. He's been hanging there a lot lately, as if it were the most normal thing in the world for him to be up there. LOL! And he's turning into quite the little Alpha cat these days, too, boldly trying to usurp Eli, which is hilarious in its success. Wow. Stanley, the Alpha. Who knew????

I've already mowed my lawn once and it's due again. : ducking:
Too bad I'm leaving it all behind for some new digs elsewhere.
So speaking of new digs - I got a promotion (of sorts) at work, a job I've been doing for about 3 years but now it's officially my 'substantive' position. The workplace is 23 km from my house (14 mi) in the next town over and takes about 30 minutes one way so now that I'll be at the 'new' workplace permanently, I figured I may as well move. I can afford to get twice the space and only be 10 minutes from work so it's worth it.
Anyway, the good news portion is I called UHaul yesterday to rent storage space to purge the house for staging. They put me on a wait list claiming shortage of storage in the region. They called me today and said they 'unexpectedly' had a locker available in the size I want (code for someone died and the estate cleared out the locker) so I'm going tomorrow to rent the space and bring a load of boxes that have been lining my hallway for a week now.
With all the other crap going on with my life right now, at least I can afford a new car. The '98 Jetta's check engine light is on and that happened before, in October. I don't want to fix it.
Time for a Prius! Yes!
Friday I was at the dealer and I put money down on the Barcelona Red model.
Tomorrow I need to talk to the bank about getting the money to the dealer so I can buy it outright. and I got a good deal on it.
Yey!
Eddy, that's good news about your job. It makes all the difference in the world when they don't treat you like poo! I'm sure you'll excel at this job!
I got a transfer, so I 'm not going to be laid off! That is MY ab fab news!

I got word Friday.
No more bitchy coworker, either. BONUS!

I'm trying to have a glass half full attitude because there's not much good going on in my life now. But...I have an interview at a staffing company on Wednesday. At least that gets me out of the house.
When my ex and I split up, we sold the house that we'd had built together and worked so hard to make uniquely ours. I put a lot of time and effort into the flower gardens there, and the idea of leaving behind all of my plants was too much. I transplanted my rose bushes into large containers, and I wasn't sure if any of them would survive. The biggest one has not only survived, but is thriving. It started blooming yesterday, and today there are 3 big yellow blooms and 3 more yellow buds about to open.
I also had an amaryliss that started out as a single bulb and eventually reproduced into loads of bulbs. When I moved into my new place, I went back to my old house and dug up all of the bulbs - there were so many, they filled an entire 10 gallon bucket. My landlady had said I could plant all the flowers I wanted, so I dug a trench in front of my porch and buried all the bulbs. They've also not only survived, but thrived. I've got a whole line of bright red amarylisses blooming in front of my trailer.
My little rented trailer is really starting to feel like a home. I can't wait to figure out what other flowers I want to plant to surround the entire trailer. It's going to so beautiful. It's already on its way. I'll post some pictures of it tomorrow.
I know how you are feeling. Good luck on that interview! I hope you get the job!

Looking forward to the pictures, WonderWoman! Growing up, all I ever had was an aloe plant for a few years. My mom was terrible with plants, so I never learned much about them, but now that we have a house, I find that I am really enjoying gardening (what little I've done so far). I'm sure there's still tons to learn, but for now, I just follow the directions that come with the plants as best I can, and they seem to be doing pretty well.
I never thought I would be, but I'm super excited about the fact that the Rhododendron bushes I just put in (well, one's planted, the other will be soon) are starting to flower.
