Jen, good for you on stepping out of your comfort zone to have a good time. I'm a big fan of trying something new Smile

That's a lovely find TW!

I'm going on a road trip with my coworkers tomorrow. It's not very far, but I'm hoping that it will be fun!
That's really cool, TW! Smile

I got my write up on the body mod event up, and the organizer was really happy with it. Smile (You can read it at http://www.capitalwitch.com . It's called "SuspenDC:Flying into Spring.)

I also connected with someone at the event, who reminded me that years ago at a gathering, I had given him a pouch with a stone and a note in it about healing and about how that bundle had caused him to do some personal work and experience some healing. He said it was a pivotal moment for him. I was just floored! Smile

Thanks. It was a special day. Smile

I hope you had fun today with your coworkers.

Ziggy, Have fun with your co-workers Smile

Jen, Cool link, thanks for sharing

I might get my new glasses today! They said they would call me
when there ready. So, I am assuming they have them now, and are working on them as I speak. Its a whole big process that was explained to us. But, they are a top-notch eye glass place.
Which makes them more pricey, but as I always say you get what you pay for. And I can't wait to get them Banana-1
Hope they work out well, TW!

I'm pretty happy with mine. Smile
Well I got my new glasses at last. It's a little rough going as they are stronger, so everything is so BRIGHT! LOL

But anyway, here are my before & after Pix.
Me with a blue top on is my old glasses and me with a brown top on is my new glasses. I know there may not seem much of a difference. I just went from a brown frame to a black frame.
But, the frame itself is different cause it is a black wire rim.
Where as my old ones were plastic, and they were very worn out at the bottom of the frame.

But I am enjoying them. It will just take a little getting use to to the eye pieces rubbing on my nose again, lol. Banana-1
I like the new ones! Smile Nice, updated look. Smile

I went with frameless this time. I had black wire frames before. My sunglasses are rectangular. Pretty funky.

I got a free dinner at Cici's Pizza today. Yay!
Free never sucks! Smile

We went to one of my BF's friends' performances last night. It was a lot of fun. Smile

Yay yay double yay! I got to meet Elizabeth May tonight, the leader of the Green Party of Canada. She's such an inspiration, it was awesome to hear her speak and get a photo op!!!
I'm currently fostering a skittish orange tabby semi-feral cat. Poor guy was on the street for a while and was so scared when I first got him, but he had this neurotic love of having his chin scratched that strongly suggested he'd been used to humans when he was younger.

After a couple months he's starting to warm up to me and within the past week has loved to lay next to me on the couch (although he hates being picked up and he won't come to me willingly so getting him next to me is a process). He's making quick progress which is awesome! Best of all, someone has emailed the rescue group to ask about him which is surprising as he's only been advertised for a few days. I guess there aren't many orange tabbies, but it works out well as this guy needs someone who is comfortable with cats (they need to be able to pick up a skittish cat) and they want a playmate for their cat.

I'm not sure if this potential adopter will work out, but it's still nice that someone's interested in this sweet, loving kitty!
Ziggy, that's great news about your skittish foster. Skittish cats are so hard to work with for some people. I'm glad you are helping him to come out of his shell!
About a week and a half ago, I sold some sterling bars I had had sitting around my house for a while. I researched putting them online as vintage, commemorative items (they were Franklin Mint ingots depicting the Presidents of the US.) When I realized I could not get very much for them that way (a lot of work and little return,) I decided to sell them to a coin dealer in town.

I got $8,900 for them! Big Grin We will be replacing our downstairs flooring with the bulk of the money. We're going to try and go talk to the guy next Saturday. The rest of the money is being used to catch up on some outstanding bills, and we've splurged a little bit.

Between now and when the floors get done, the money is sitting in my savings account earning interest. Smile

That much money?! Good for you, that's awesome! It sounds as though you've divided it up perfectly - outstanding bills (that might charge interest), a long-term investment (floors), and a personal reward for your hard work. Sweet! Smile
Eh, I don't know about perfectly. I probably put away a grand too much, but I have not taken it back out.

We're already back to being very frugal, but I'm definitely grateful for the boost it gave us. It helped that my state refund came in the same night. We went out a few times, and I bought myself a couple of birthday gifts (small ones.) I caught up my electric bill (had been paying just half each month, because it had gotten kind of high.) It's nice not to worry, though, and what's in savings is actually more than we will need for the floors and for boarding the cats--unless the cost has gone up since we got our quote back in the fall, which is possible. Either way, yes. It's good to have enough. Smile

I'm definitely grateful. I even asked my mom whether she thought my grandfather had collected these ingots, coins, etc. because he loved them or as an investment. She thinks it was the latter. I think it was both--I remember his collections sitting about his room in their various display cases/portfolios. Either way, I'm grateful!

When my federal refund (finally!) comes in, I'll catch up on a few more bills, and I'm hoping to pay my 2 mortgages ahead a little. We'll see.

Jen
We put down our deposit on our new flooring and scheduled the work yesterday! Big Grin On June 3, they will come in and start. So excited!
