He actually laid on my chest and gave himself a bath!

Yup, you have made it when they use you as a pillow or a bracing point to get clean. It is nice, but a pain when you are trying to sleep and the darn cat is cleaning itself while leaning against your head and shaking the pillow. Happycat
Yay, TW!

My PAG's: 1. I'm meeting Moody_Rants and my parents for lunch today. It is a beautiful day! Smile

2. I talked to my tax preparer yesterday. Aside from the stimulus check, I'm getting back about $3k!

I just got my hair cut and dyed yesterday. It's a pretty big change, and I was concerned at first that my stylist had gotten a bit "scissor-happy". I didn't like how it looked when I got home, but I played with it this morning and it only took about 10 minutes to do (including the blowdrying). I was pretty happy with the end result and have gotten a number of compliments today at work, so that's a good feeling.

Wow - CONGRATS! $3K would come in awfully handy right about now with gas going up EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Yes, Cats. It will come in very handy. I already have it budgeted. Wink

AHH I just found this thread again... just posted a new one in the Products section...

because my bucket-o-LUSH arrived today! OMG I HATE YOU GUYS I HATE YOU GUYS I HATE YOU GUYS!!! LOL I am an Ivory girl... I usually get rashes and things so I have tended to stay away from fruity smelling soaps and things over the years. But I took leave of my senses when I checked out the website, and next thing you know, I spent $50. Hmmm. It all arrived today and I took a bath in half of one of the melts -- "Creamy Candy". It was decadent. A little on the sweet side, but HOLY that was lovely.

Stupid stupid expensive though. But nice as a gift or as a treat. I'm definitley going to be gifting a bunch of them, as they really are over the top lovely.
A cute Russian boy came right to my house today. I didn't even have to call anyone or make a reservation. He just showed up! He wants to clean my carpets. I spoke my little bit of Russian to him and showed him my Gogol Bordello CD and he petted my sobaki (doggies). What luck! I love Russians. Too bad the carpet cleaning is up to the owners of the house, not us.
I think Eastern Eurpoean men are often just dreamy! Wink

My ex and I were lucky enough to befriend a Russian family a couple of homes ago. They moved to Maine. I still write a time or two a year.

There were lots of Russians in Portland, Maine when I was living there. That's where DH and I took a beginners Russian language course. Maybe they like it there because the intensely cold and long winter reminds them of home!

Weird! Portland, OR has a very large Russian population as well. I wonder why they have gravitated to those areas...

Fiona Wrote:... -Viewed another unit in the same complex so the floor plan is the same. This other place needs some work, about $10k worth (paint, counter tops), BUT it's priced $25k LESS than Greedy McGreedersons (list is $289k) and I think I may put in an offer around the $284k range. ...

Amazing how the tables turn!!

So I made my offer on the cheaper place, they counter (fairly!) and I slightly countered ($500 under their counter) and voilĂ , as they say. We struck a deal.

So I get this email from my agent: "p.s. did talk to unit #66, told them you decided to write on the cheaper one, suddenly they were willing to come down to 309,000 or 308,000 with all the appliances, I forget which. I was driving when I talked to them, so my memory is gone. But they would be much more willing to dicker on price now if it doesn't come together on 45. Anyhow, talk to you later on - enjoy the pizza!" (I ordered pizza and it arrived when we were talking earlier)

Turns out they have had several viewings but mine was the only offer they've gotten so far.

Here's hoping the other deal goes to completion so I don't have to go snivelling back to the Greedy McGreedersons.

New Place!
That's great Fiona! I LOVE the fireplace in that unit! Good luck!

My good news is far less interesting but it's good for me.

I went to Kohl's today to see if there were any clothes in my size that didn't look like they should be worn by 65 yr old elementary school teachers and found ONE pair of jeans in my size and the style that I wear. Turns out they were only $11.99 (for $40 Levi's)

Ok, I hate shopping- but I'll take that Smile

I also found Jicamas so I can make this veggie side thing I want to make. They serve it at a restaurant in Houston and I LOVE it- I could eat it by the bowlful. Considering it's just peppers, jicama, corn, and onions it's not bad for you either.

Yes- I'm a dork.

A dork with new jeans and yummy food.
Nothing wrong with new jeans and yummy food, Kirbs! Wink

My PAG: I just scored a large bag of Meow Mix cat food and a nearly entire flat of 9Lives cans. Money is very tight, so this was a relief.

The gray lining to this cloud, however, is we got it because our friends' cat passed on this past week, unfortunately. Sad

The weather here is beautiful!

Dh got all the planting done, 2 hanging baskets, two planters for the front steps, a nice bamboo plant in a pot to hide the gas meter, a new lilac bush for the front yard and all the containers are set up with automatic watering systems so we don't forget to water them and they look nice all year...we can go away and not come back to dead plants!

Best of all the huge ugly landscape circle in the back yard that is the size of an oval swimming pool , hard to maintain and full of tired dead plants is about a third torn out! The neighbor is taking the dirt as fill for his lawn, my Dad is taking the bricks and we will put turf in it which will make the yard seem so much bigger and easier to maintain.

I'm also, thrilled to death that the nosy neighbor on the other side has gone away for the long weekend so we can sit out in the yard and talk in private without being eavesdropped on by Miss "I need a life so I'm listening to yours and spreading it all over the neighborhood"

It's ALL good!!
I returned from my trip to Nevada on Thursday to find a card from the Muskegon Regional show.........BOTH my pieces I submitted were accepted for final jurying (the water market and the self-portrait). Today is the first class of the summer semester so I get to go tell my Illustration instructor......the one who encouraged me to enter my work.

When I dropped off my work I saw some of the things other artists dropped off and there were a lot of beautiful pieces. I'll be honored to be included in this group!

Just think.......my first time ever exhibiting publicly in a museum!
dogsbreakfast: I'm so jealous of your lilac bush! I want one. I don't think they grow at this altitude. Sad

ForMyACDs - yay! I'm sure it's the first of many exhibitions. Cheers
I took Friday off. It was a beautiful day.
FIL was coming over to do some work on the garage door, but I was able to schedule my oil change/tire rotation first thing in the morning. I also picked up a couple things on the way home.
And by the time FIL got to my house, I had already dug up my front garden area (very small), planted my two tomato plants and my zucchini plant, and was just getting ready to mulch everything. Plus Sadie got to be in the front with me on her tether. Added bonus, recycle truck and garbage truck both had picked up so I got both the boxes and the can taken out of the drive long before he showed up.

While FIL worked on the door, I got my mulching done and my potted stuff planted and arranged.
After DH and he finished one last bit (DH came home around 3 and worked with his dad for a couple hours), we went out to eat a neighborhood restaurant. They got some more work done, I got cinnamon rolls made up for the next morning.

Over all a really good couple of days even though I had not planned on him staying the night. Thankfully it wasn't hard to get the spare room straightened up.
We totally derailed our weekend plans to hang out with a CF couple (they spent Friday night at our house after some late late bowling and we ended up spending Saturday night at their house). It was awesome, and now we have some great Memorial Day weekend plans with them shaping up as well! Yay for new friends, and double-yay for new CF friends! Big Grin
DH and I are going to Cleveland this weekend to visit our families, so we decided to make reservations a Lola Bistro. It's the restaurant owned by Michael Symon (the newest Iron Chef on Food Network), and he's been wanting to go.

We also got tix for an Indians game this weekend too. I'm not a huge sports fan, but I do really enjoy going to a game. It's so much easier to get into it when you're there and the crowd is cheering, etc. I'm really looking forward to it!

Yay!

Oh, that's exciting! I like Michael Symon as the newest Iron Chef. His restaurant should be pretty cool.
