Finally! After nearly two months, all the leaks in my gas line have been fixed, the pipes hold air pressure and the county signed off on the hook ups. Now to just get the gas turned on so I can have heat and I can cook!
Two months? Holy hell that's a long time to wait for cooking and heat.
Wow. That IS a long time, but I'm glad you're finally (just about) up and running!

I finally got a job and today I go for the orientation and paperwork. It's working at a grocery store stocking shelves. Not exactly my dream job but at least I'll be working again. More details as I get them.
Eddy, that's fantastic! Good luck to you!

Jen
Glad to hear about the job, Eddy! Hopefully things will really start looking up for you.

Whoa, that is a really really long time to wait for heating, Ozarkmoon! I'd hate not being able to use the stove. Guess you kinda take that stuff for granted until you don't have it.

Mine is that my dad may get a promo at work, so he won't have to report to the boss who treats him like crap. Oh, and my mom has been out of town for the past few days, so he doesn't had to put up with her, which is good. Between the job, the marriage going to hell, and the hive outbreaks on his skin he has had a really tough time lately. I'm so glad he's getting a little break-he really needed it.
Congrats, Eddy! Good on ya!
Congrats, Eddy!

Mine is my DH's dad was on the news today because he's being hailed as a local hero for helping save a diver in trouble in the ocean. He's been in the papers, the local TV news, and he's been nominated by the San Diego Fire Department for an annual local heroes award. He was doing his morning walk on the cliffs over the beach, and when he heard a cry for help, he climbed down and went out into the 5 foot waves, the rip tide, and the kelp bed and helped pull her to safety along with a couple of other people. People are kind of going nutty over it because he's 70 years old, but he's healthy, in good shape, walks a lot, swims, etc.
Anastasia, that's really amazing! Good for him! Smile

My husband's cousin, who is gay and in a 20 year relationship, finally and legally married his partner! YAY!
PG, that's awesome! Congrats to them!

LOVE reading all of the great news!
Here is mine:
I was in Banana Republic trying on several jackets. About 20-30 minutes into the shopping trip, I realized I was missing my beautiful bracelet.
A very expensive bracelet, but even more so, a bracelet with a lot of sentimental value to it. I panicked. I asked the manager if anyone had turned in a colorful, beaded bracelet.

Well, the manager disappeared and it seemed like forever and then he finally returned- WITH MY BRACELET!

I couldn't believe it! Seriously? In LA?

I wrote a very nice letter to the store, thanking all of the employees at the store for their kindness and honesty. The company wrote back and said that they were forwarding the letter to the store.

Nice!
I needed Cheering Up so I thought I would check on the good news thread.
Eddy: Congrats on getting a job. Yes I know its not your dream job. But work is work and $ is $ So I hope it works out for you Clap

PG: Congrats to your Husbands cousin. That is awesome!! Banana-1

And Beachbum: BOY are you one lucky stiff.
And I am so happy you recovered your lost bracelet. And that was very sweet of you to write the store a very nice letter. You ARE one lucky lady! I bet you won't make that same mistake twice, lol.

I wish I had some good news to share. About the only thing I can think of is that My BFF agreed to help me IF & when I need to have a Colonoscopy done. I talked to her today and she said as long as I can schedule it for a Friday, she can help me out and take me to the clinic. They don't want you doing this kind of procedure alone. And with my hubby OTR, I have NO one to help me. But TG Now I do Smile

If I get it done, I will keep you all updated about it in the Health news thread Smile
BB, I'm glad you got your bracelet back.

I understand. I once lost two very special rings while I was working in a hardware store. I was so upset, I wrote a poem about them. Yes, really!

The next day when I went into work (or maybe it was the day after that,) I checked the lost and found at the service desk, and there they were!

I still have them.

I drove a car tonight for the first time since January 2007, and will be calling the insurance company tomorrow to get insurance. I live in an area where the public transit is not worth using and can't be depended on, I was relying on my parents or a neighbour to drove me to/from work. I get called in to work sometimes at a moment's notice for extra hours and it will be a relief knowing I can get myself there.
Paris, that's really good news. I know that not everyone lives in a place where PT is good.

My PAG: I have my first reporting assignment in over three years tonight! (This, of course, is provided nothing happens with Metro...)

Jen M.
DH was able to leave work early so he could avoid co-workers' kids parading in their costumes for Halloween.
Noelle, that must have been a relief. LOL!

My PAG: (Well, really just a sigh of relief, for now.) I went to my gyn, because I'm suffering a prolonged period. The good news is his exam didn't turn up anything obvious--growths, etc. He thinks it's just a "bad period."

If it doesn't stop in a few days, I'll have to go back in, but at least I don't appear to have fibroids or anything like that.

I was worried about having MORE HEALTH PROBLEMS.

Jen M.
I'm in Florida on vacation and loving it.
Noelle-that's awesome for you DH. I got stuck at working at the library (my secondary job) when Youth Services had their costume parade. So much for the library being quiet.

Bittercat-glad to hear your tests came back ok. Hopefully the crimson tide will dry up soon. Its never fun having to deal with that, and when it goes on longer than its supposed to it only gets worse. Maybe its just a rough one, or a small hormone fluctation that caused it to be worse. I've heard stress or other changes can sometimes cause that.

Paris04-contrats on the vacation! You definitely need it.
