I received what I've ordered from Lush. I've got some soaps and a moisturizer. But the best is that solid shampoo and I don't regret buying it. My hair feel much more lighter after using it, compared to the bottled stuff that I had before. I will buy it again for sure.

PrairieGirl

Dolyne -- I love LUSH, and my stuff arrived yesterday, too! They sent me a sample of the Trichomania bar shampoo, so I'll try it. DH already uses the "New" bar shampoo and he actually has some hair regrowth in his bald spot! I tell ya, those chemicals in shampoos are the debbil!
You guys gotta try making your own soap. I've done my own for years now. Love, love it! When I visited a Lush store in Boston I nearly fell over from the prices. It's so funny - they have these huge bricks of soap out and yet are able to charge more - they save $ on packaging and cutting yet charge a premium for not doing these things. I didn't really get it.

Anyway, you can easily make a 2 month supply of soap in about an hour and you can use organic ingredients if you like as well as any fragrance/colors or lack of if you like. Smile And it's fun!
Cats, I've been interested in making my own soap for a while. I'm a SUCKER for hand-made soaps. Love them! Smile

My weekend was amazing! (I know--it's Thursday--I've been sick.) I had a wedding and a family reunion, and they both rocked!

I only had one infuriating breeder moment. I will post about that under Family.

Other than that, between the weather, the people, and the occasions, it was just a great weekend!

I've made glycerin soaps before, it's very easy. But the real soap is very involved and takes a special set-up, it takes up to 6 weeks to cure. I like that kind of soap better than the glycerin, but it takes more effort than I want to do.

I love LUSH, too, but it's too expensive. In the UK it's cheaper, that is, it's cheaper for people living in the UK earning ££. But at the time I was there in 2006, LUSH even cheaper for me with the £ to $ conversion.

Good news: We've got friends here visiting from Tulsa. We really like spending time with them and haven't seen them in 10 months. I'm trying to convince them to move here to California! They aren't very happy in Tulsa. They're atheists, too, and they're dead tired of people asking what the friggin' church they go to.
I don't make glycerin soap. I make the real deal.

It's not that involved - I taught a class on it at my library and I've been doing it for nearly 8 years now.

I'm happy to share with you all the materials I had for the class - just PM me. I swear - you can make it with what you have in your kitchen in terms of "tools" - you'll need to buy oil and lye.

It does take a while for the set up, but not necessarily 6 weeks. I just plan ahead - when I see my supply is getting low I make a batch so by the time I've run out of the old the new is ready to go. Smile
I prefer the non-glycerin type, too.

Enjoy your friends! I hope they consider moving to CA. I know that would be good for you, considering your recent problems, but also good for them, because of the more open spirit in CA.

I don't think I'd survive long in OK or UT!

Cats, I'd love to have your instructions!

Better yet: Come visit us and give us a lesson in person! Wink (j/k, but you are welcome any time you are in the area.)

Good news: I have offered to donate the rights to some of the photos I took this past weekend to the organization on whose land they were taken. The organization has accepted!

I spent my lunch hour editing the photos.

Thanks, BC. I hope to come your way soon - last time was what 4 years ago for the pro-choice demo? Next big demo - I'll be there again! Smile PM me your email and I'll send ya the instructions for the soap.
Yeah. It was a while back.

Thanks!
Jen
I won a first degree murder appeal today. It was one of my Very Hard Cases, so I'm quite relieved. The opinion was even written by the judge I usually can't stand/disagree with. Big Grin
HH, that's great news!

My new job (I'm somewhere temporary for the next 9 months) has free cookies, peanut butter and cracker snacks, and those instant noodles packs. Yum!

Plus after two days things are going well. I have met all sorts of wonderful new people and I have met up with some old friends.

I'm going to remind you of this post in about 3 months - you know, when you post how sick you are of cookies, PB, and cracker snacks!!! Duck3

Glad to hear you made it over there all right; keep your boots laced up tight, Ziggy!

Well, my house-buying adventure feels like it's crapping out.

-offer countered, and the people won't budge below $310k and are saying the gas stove is included only if I pay list (HA!) and even then, they want way more than I think it's worth. So I'm going to "think about it" for a few days and let 'em wonder where I've gone. Of the 3-4 people who've viewed it, I'm the only one to make an offer...so far.

-Viewed another unit in the same complex so the floor plan is the same. This other place needs some work, about $10k worth (paint, counter tops), BUT it's priced $25k LESS than Greedy McGreedersons (list is $289k) and I think I may put in an offer around the $284k range.

-People who viewed my place are interested but HE's balking 'cause it's not an end unit, SHE's saying so what, let's offer. RE Agent knows I have wiggle room so is going to 'encourage' them to think about it.

So, I think I'm going to let the first place go, offer on the second one, and keep cleaning/repairing/showing my place and may, just maybe, we can all swap around houses and all be happy. In the between time, I *HATE* this dance!!
Tempering good news with thankfulness that it was not bad here, but several other towns had it terrible and some lost their lives. The storms were really big, bad, terrible and strong. Just a few hail stones here and no damage. Kitty and I weathered the 20 minutes of it passing watching radar and snuggling on couch!
Ziggy, I'm glad you're happy at your new placement!

Fiona, I hate that dance too, but it sounds like you really have a good strategy.

Ozarkmoon, I'm so glad you and kitty made it through the weather safe and sound.

I was tickled pink last night when Boots let me hold him for more then a minute.
And on top of that.
He actually laid on my chest and gave himself a bath!
I think I finally broken down some of his defences.
On top of that he does not hiss on me anymore SmileBanana-1

ozarkmoon Hug I am happy you and your cat's? made it through the bad storms too.
