Ziggy, that's awesome about the cats! (The HS IS no-kill, right?) That like, never happens around here! You should be proud!

As for work, I'll decide tomorrow. Overall, I feel fine, but I tire easily. I may just take it day by day and just ask to leave early if I need to.

Paris, very cool about the dress!

PG- just for grins, you might try to get your broker's license. I don't know about your state, but here you can do it online even. Then you don't need to go begging for someone to hold your RE license. Just a thought...

Ozark -- that is absolutely on my radar! But you have to be an agent for three years in Georgia, and I'm at, like, the six month mark!
The shelter is what they now term 'low-kill'. No-kill shelters are a fallacy - a good idea in principle but some cats are just too ill and petrified of the world to ever be happy. All the animals that are healthy (physically and mentally) or are able to get better (through fostering) are guaranteed a new home. So yeah... it's fantastic news.

Paris, it's awesome that you found a dress. I hate shopping, so I'm always pleased if I can find exactly what I want right from the start.
PG, good luck! That sounds like a great deal for you, and hopefully they hold out for another 2.5 years.
I know I rarely post here, cause I rarely have any good news to share.
So before I do I will try to play some catch up

Eddy: Congrats on a big Tax refund. Banana-1 Lord know what our taxes will be this year. We may have to pay Sad

P.G Congrats on a new job for your license. I hope everything is working out great.

Paris Congrats on finding a wedding dress. That is ½ the battle when preparing for a wedding. April will soon be here, Are you nervous? lol Smile

Ziggy: I am glad for all your kitty's sakes that the shelters try their best to keep the cats alive. I do understand that older cats or miserable cats may wind up having to undergo euthanasia. And that is very sad indeed.
But at least the healthy ones get to live longer and hopefully can find a decent home for them. One lives in hope, lol

Now to MY PAG
This falls into a two fold category
You may all be aware that my mother passed away a few days ago
That is SAD & Thanks again for all of your condolences
Now,my only brother is my only immediate family, aside from my husband and in-laws of course.
But anyway, a long time ago mother made my brother her P.O.A.
( Power Of Attorney)
So, we all thought that mother was going to out live all of her financial resources and we would be left with nothing.
And that the nursing home would have it all.
But the good news is that did NOT happen
Brother has been painstakingly going though all the finances the last few days.
And since he too is out of work and needs the money
He has managed to liquify some assets
and the end result for now is ( LOL MY PAG) I am going to be receiving a check for $10,0000!!!!!!!!! ( him too of course)
This is NOT our final inheritance.
Mother still had Life insurance policies that need to be taken care of
But that takes time of course. And she still has her empty rental property to liquidate. But in this economy that is not going to be easy.
So, brother needs to set aside monies to keep property taxes paid
lawn, mowed, and general up-keep and maintained till he decides to sell.
This is all OUT of my hands as he is The POA
So, all I get to do is be dismissed upon and told what is what.
But 10K sounds sweet to me.
Can you say Las Vegas?
LOL ( and yes pay some bills off too)

Hubby says he WILL work again. He just has to bite the bullet and accept a lower paying job that sucks, but hey you got to do what you got to do.
And, he knows that WHEN he does find a job, He won't get vacation time for years. So he wants to go to LV now, when the getting is good!
So look for me in the travel thread soon, LOL
Thanks MOM!
TW - it is good that this comes at a time when you can really use it and pay things off, have a cushion and take a vacation. That happened when my dad passed. I sold his trailer, took his life insurance and paid for 75% of my newer trailer. It really made things easier to be able to pay bills.
TW, I've been mostly offline while recovering from surgery. I did not know about your mom passing. I am so sorry for your loss.

That said, this windfall is very good news for you and your hubby. Your indulgence in a trip to LV won't eat it all up, and maybe you can put some into an emergency fund--once some other things are paid off--to help you get through his unemployment.

Silver lining, for sure!

My PAGs:

1. SNOW! We got around 6 inches. It's the really dry, powdery stuff that does not pack, so I think it will melt quickly. SO pretty, though. We went for a walk in it this afternoon. Smile

2. I have the best boyfriend in the whole wide world. He's just been so great to me with everything I've gone through.

Thanks everyone, and, so sorry Bittercat, I forgot to add how happy I was for your successful surgery. Smile
I hope your healing nicely, and I am happy your enjoying your snow. Please keep it there, lol. Congrats with your boyfriend too. Its always nice to have someone help you while you recover.. Been there, did that, lol.
And my other PAG is. Of course I do plan on keeping some funds for ER use during DH's continous unemployment. That is such a comfort for me to know I will have ER funds for unexpected car repairs, vet bills, etc etc.
Trust me, although its nice to joke around with blowing 10K in LV. I do not ever plan on doing so, lol.
Yeah. I'm in the process of building up an e-fund, too. There's not much in it, but what's important is I put in what I can.

It definitely gives you peace of mind.

Jen
Ziggy, thanks for clarifying about the shelter. I guess I should have realized not all cats would be healthy enough to make it, and it would be more humane to end their pain.

TW, sorry for your loss, but the funds will definitely be a nice help to you. Good luck!
Oh, absolutely, Koi and Ziggy: Any organization that would allow prolonged suffering would be in the wrong.

I'm a big proponent of no-kill, but any no-kill advocate will tell you that very, very sick animals need to be humanely put down. I'm a big fan of Nathan Winograd's No Kill Equation, but even Winograd will acknowledge this.

I start with my new broker today, who has promised to teach me how to actually succeed in real estate! WOO HOO!
Great news, TW - I'm happy for you.

Good luck, PG!
I got a gift in the mail! It was from a member here and is an Egyptian incense burner. Yay!
Eddy, that's really cool!

My connection in Germany came through with two more sets of lobby cards for sale. More pictures of Jurgen! That makes me very happy!
The company that I rent my violin got back in contact with me, and I have an appointment to shop for a new instrument-with $700 credit from my rental fees! I'm also gonna get a case that can hold my shoulder rest and sheet music, so I don't have to carry a separate bag. I'm so excited.

I also added onto my rose tattoo that I got right before new years. I liked it so much I added a hibiscus and forget-me-nots, and its healing very nicely.
I cooked about 8 chicken leg quarters last night. What a chore! But they were free and I just went wild. 2 with just poultry seasoning, 2 with italian, 2 bbq (yummo!), and 2 lemon pepper. Tonight's menu is english peas and chicken/rice combo. Tomorrow - chicken salad (have to work late) and Thursday - bbq chicken, baked beans and cornbread.

Oh, and I got my first debit card finally from my bank. Yeah, me!

ETA: Yeah PG, remember us when you are on the Today show!
Yeah Eddy, kewlness.
Koi- how nice of them, now you can have all your stuff together Smile (said in best George Carlin voice). Smile
I love chicken legs too, Ozarkmoon. My favorite cut of chicken! Congrats on the bank card as well.
WTG, guys!

Koi, I know what you mean about being relieved to have everything together. I hate having to carry several cases/bags!

My PAG: We got more snow, and my understanding is that, by the end of the week, we will have had even MORE snow! YES! I took the bus today, because people are generally 'tards if it so much as rains. It was SO PRETTY!
