Oh, hell no, Caller. You did not just try to get me to fire our receptionist.

This woman called just as I was getting my lunch heated up. I was up at the front desk chatting with receptionist as I waited for the microwave to get done. The caller had asked a question that is the area that I answer. I asked the receptionist to tell her I was to lunch. The caller didn't want to leave a message and tried twice (could tell by how receptionist answered question) to ask for her to answer it. Then the caller hung up on the receptionist. Receptionist put down the phone and shrugged that the caller wouldn't even leave a message for me.
So about two hours later I get a call. The question sounds VERY similar to the situation that the recieptionist said that the noontime caller had. So I answered it professionally and started to tell her good day. The caller stopped me and said that she wanted to tell me about "That PERSON" who answered the phones and how RUDE she was. So I let the caller try to tell me how horrible receptionist was and rude and that the receptionist hung up on the caller.
Me - Really?!? SHE hung up on you?
Caller - Yes. I think she may have just been too busy to actually listen to what I was asking her.
Me - Well, we do have 8 lines coming in on our main line.
Caller - I was being sarcastic. If she can't plainly listen and answer a simple question then she shouldn't do her job.
Me - Hmmm, yes, well her job is to pass calls back to the appropriate area for answers, not to be the person to answer each question.
Caller - Well, I was JUST trying to see who I needed to talk to and if there was ANYONE else who might answer my question and when to expect a callback. She wouldn't let me finish the question and hung up on me. She shouldn't be doing that job. I think it is a poor excuse for someone in her position.
Me - Okay, then. I am sorry you had such a bad conversation, I will tell the appropriate person about the situation.
Caller - I have never had to call about anything with your product. Of course, I don't personally use your product so I wouldn't normally, but I called for my mom. And this person was just RUDE.
Me - Yes, we will deal with it appropriately. Thank you for calling.
Caller - Good. Goodbye.

Hung up the phone and called her BIOTCH. Phone was in craddle and light was off.

So I went up to tell receptionist the whole thing. We had a good laugh over the idea that this caller thought that there was a chance in hell that I would take her word (a person who just called me 3 minutes ago) over my receptionist whom I have worked with for almost 11 years. Receptionist, who has NEVER hung up on anyone more than a prank caller and will even listen to telemarketers. Yeah...that will happen.

Besides I was up there for the call (My food was still cooking) and Caller never asked receptionist who took those calls or when to expect a call back. And I saw the light on the switchboard go out when the Caller hung up. And for what it is worth. I usually callback within the day if I am in the office. And she never left a message on my voicemail.

Yeah. whatever.

People like to stir shit. The world revolves around them, you know -- you live to service them.
Don't you just love it?! LOL
Beatnik
It is sad that people like that have to be placated to.
But, it takes all kinds. There is always that one person that
just can't be happy unless they think they can get someone into
trouble.
Hmmmmm sounds a lot like my MIL. Smile
This is why I hate the general public & try not to have a job where I deal with them on a day-to-day basis. People suck & they lie. I have had jobs dealing with the public & there were more morons that decent/good customers.
