Hi there, I'm new to this forum. I just stumbled across it yesterday and have read numerous posts since then.

I'm 29 and have been married for almost 9 months. My husband & I don't want kids.

And of course I'm told, "Oh that's what I used to say", or "you'll change your mind" and I just wanted some place where I wouldn't hear that.

I have nothing against kids, or people have kids. It's just not something I want. I have two beautiful nieces, love them dearly, but I like visiting them and then being able to leave when I want and not having to worry about them.

That is all, I'm new so no avatar or signature yet.

Nice to meet everyone!

You don't see me registered? Well I don't know then, lol. I signed up and everything.

We have no fur babies. My husband and I both have bad allergies so not sure if we will ever be able to have fur babies. We are going to get a fish though!

Cool, you ARE registered, my bad.. So no furbabies uh? That is too bad that your hubby is allergic to them. But fish can be cool if you get the super pretty ones. Or maybe better still a turtle or a snake? Just a suggestion, lol.
Reptiles are cool too. I have a BFF who raises snakes for a living.
They are awesome creatures Smile
But, I will stick with my cat, he is all that I need for now, lol.
Goodluck with your fish.

Thanks everyone. Smile
Welcome Melsie!!! I'm sure you'll love it here. My husband and I have one fur baby (orange tabby cat) and we're thinking about getting another cat. I've been thinking about getting some fish too! And I'm with you...I adore my two nieces and two nephews, but I'm also glad when it's time to go!! Big Grin

Yeah, I don't do well with snakes, lol. We're going to start with a fish, probably get a Beta, they're very pretty and they actually need to be themselves so it would be a cheap first pet. If we don't kill that, we may get a hamster (I've had them in the past). I think the only reptile I could do would be turtle.. maybe frog.

I love orange tabbies. Smile The hubs and I are both allergic to cats and I have mild asthma so I don't think we'll ever have one (unless we miraculously get our allergies under control). And we like to be able to just away at a moment's notice (well not right now, we're broke, but in the past and definintely in the future) and it's hard to do that with a dog. And I love dogs so I'd want to take the damn thing everywhere and that's not practical. I'd be mad if one of my friends brought her kid everywhere, and it would be the equivalent.
I did have a couple of dogs with whom I did that, and you're right: Reactions are very mixed.

Just like how not everyone is a kid person (whether you have them or not), not everyone is a dog person.

Plus, very few people are allergic to babies, lol. While some are quite allergic to dogs. Tongue
Right. I always asked ahead of time, and people were nice enough to say "yes" once. If it did not work out, the dogs wouldn't return with me after that-I never sprang them on anyone.

I'm extremely allergic to babies. Deathly! And there's no cure except being CF!
