The following is a Letter I received the other day from one of my long term pen pals of over 12 years Who also happens to live in Ohio. Just 30 miles south from us.

Hey CC,
We are in a fix and I am hoping that possibly you will be the answer to my prayers. We got an adorable dog for my Uncle. But when my Uncle took the dog home he couldn't handle him. My uncle is 90 and this dog weighs about 25-30 lbs. He is just the sweetest dog. All he wants is to find a home and for someone to love him. He was hit by a car at one time and had surgery on his hip. He is around a year old. I am going to try to attach a picture of him. I would keep him myself but we have four dogs as it is. My heart aches so much for this dog. He has been to so many homes in the past week. He just needs someone to show him love. He does know the sit command and I noticed when I point my finger at him and say NO he stops. We got him at the shelter for my Uncle but my daughter that is a vet tech said that if we take him back to the shelter it will do him in. He won't survive. The woman at the shelter said he is house broken but may need to be reminded about it. If there is anyone that you know of that would give this dog a good home and take care of him would you please tell them about him. We just don't know what to do. My daughter did take him in to her work for the doctor to check him over and he is in good health. We have a cage and supplies for him that would go with him. I am praying that someone will be the answer to this poor dog.

Take Care,
Dimps

Well to make a long story short and after several exchanged e mails as to questions about health, and cats, lol.
I just could not say no.. Besides, I knew my hubby wanted to try again for another dog. And this one was just too cute to pass up. He is a Heinz 57 Mutt. I see some Beagle in him and and Sherri (Dimps's Daughter) Who is a Vet Tech, said he has Terrior and Lab in him too. But we also see some hound in him as well. He is truly a Mixed Mixed Breed, lol
But so damn adorable, LOL.
So today on 6-26-10
We went and got John... Now known as "Johnny Angel" And he is an angel. Right now he is sleeping on the couch with my hubby
After a full romp in our big back yard.
And if given time Boots will come around to him.
ITMT Angel has not tried to harm Boots in any way, which is great
The only problem I am having with him is he is a biter.
More like mouthing.
And he already nicked the back of my left hand with one of his teeth. So after some first-aid and a band-aid I am fine. But,if I can't get him to stop biting. I may have to purchase a muzzle.
I will start obedience classes with him on 7-14
Which also happens to be my silver wedding anniversary
Bob & I are already smittin with Angel. But we still have to call him Johnny Angel for a while, cause he is use to the name of John.
Some one was a big "Waltons" fan cause his full name was John Boy, lol. But, I will change that soon to Angel it will just take time.
And why I chose Angel is another long story.
But for now....Please Meet the newest Member of our Family
Mr Johnny Angel, lol Yes I know he already has a song just for him, lol Smile Angel

PS I spent most of the day teaching him "down" and not to jump when he see's me coming to the gate in the back yard. So, I am pooped, LOL. But very happy, He is a very quiet dog! And,
Now for sure I will have something to look fwd to on 7-14 Instead of moping around cause hubby has to work.
He is a cutie!

I suspected that you'd get a dog before too long... there are enough dogs that need good homes, so it was a matter of finding one that would work for you. Remember, Boots will probably take a couple weeks or a month to adjust. He'll sneeze, but he'll get over it soon enough. Do you have favourite treats or food for Boots? If you give him treats every time he sees the dog then you should find that he begins to enjoy Angel's company Smile
The fact that he would go die in a shelter makes me SOOO Happy that you got him!
He looks like one of my dogs, except he has the ears of my other one. Too cute. No wonder you took him with a face like that who can resist! So cute. I hope he does well in your house.

Boots is not really into treats. I had tried that method with Peanut ( may he Rip ) and that did not seem to work too well.
The only thing Boots enjoys is people food, Like chicken, turkey, eggs, Ham, etc. One good thing. Johnny Angel was trained very well He did not beg for people food last night.
And he is so quiet. I have personal time for me, while he can run or loaf around in the back yard.
I will work with him again today.
I just need time to wake up.
I am not use to being up at 8AM
He did not wake me up, Boots did by standing on my stomach
Little stinker, he loves his morning ritual of snuggles, on my tummy, lol. And so far the good news is he has not started sneezing. I think he knows this one will be nicer to him? At least I hope he knows that.

Dana: thanks, I know I love his face too. I got another Pix of him on our couch last night.
The first Pix of Johnny Angel in his new home with us.

What a cutie pie! Congrats, and good job on saving him from death!
Hooray for all of you. Congratulations and best wishes to you and your new puppy kid.
He is very handsome and looks so alert in the first photo. Mixed breeds are usually smarter and quicker, so I'm guessing the classes will yield great results. Congrats on the new addition!
What a good-looking dog! He looks so sweet...
He's beautiful, TW. I hope he works out for you guys.

The obedience trainer can probably help you with the biting issue. Just be consistent with him. At a year old, he's still basically a puppy. Hopefully you can train him out of it and he'll outgrow it.

It was really good of you and your hubby to take this little guy in. I wish you all the best!

Thanks everyone.. Update: I took "Angel", yes he is answering to his new name at last. To Petco today.
He is a smart little stinker. I was so proud of him today.
He rode very well in the car at last.
Yesterdays car ride was devil dog from hell, lol. But after some
consistant commands & treats, he learned very quickly where I wanted him to be. Which was in the back seat and not stepping all over me, lol.
I got him a new collar and name tag and He seems to be a happy camper.
I will look fwd to going to classes with him.
But ITMT, Its Boots that needs to adjust.
I know that will take time.
But Angel is healthy and he is not going anywhere, lol.
He is all MINE! Angel
