The fiddlehead fern thread inspired me. So, what foods are in season in your area that you are enjoying? What are you looking forward to?

Vidalia onions are in, and we're inhaling them like cah-razy! Also, the plums are ripening on my plum tree -- FARRR superior to store-bought plums. In fact, we are making a trip to MIL's tomorrow, because she loves our plums (and because she has cancer, and who knows? - it might be her last season, but we hope not, but you never know).

FIL has tomatoes, but we are late -- well, we suck at growing tomatoes, so who cares if we are late?

We are anxiously waiting Silver Queen corn, and watermelons. Oh, and peaches. And of course, when fall comes, fresh peanuts and the new crop of pecans.
asparagus
Waiting for the apricots to ripen on the tree...
chile plants that I'm growing, hoping they will produce a lot of fruit.
peaches,tomatoes I'm looking forward to
I'm so useless at knowing this stuff that I have no idea what's in season when. All I know is our cherry tomato plants have a million little green tomatoes and two of them are starting to turn a little red right now. Can't wait for those babies.

Our strawberry plants have been giving us a strawberry here and there for several weeks now. I have no idea when they start or stop. We also have a lemon tree with little green baby lemons, a key lime tree with tiny buds, a tangerine tree also with tiny buds. And two clementine trees. They're just starting out, one has blooms.

This is our first California season, so I just plant stuff and hope it grows. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Everything has to be in pots, though, because we have no real patch of earth for a garden.
I don't grow anything, but having FRESH watermelon and strawberries in the stores will be nice for a change!
I just got back from the store where they finally had apricots in. I love fresh apricots and peaches. Sadly, they were $2.50/pound and I only got 4.
I got some apricots and cherries and made a nice fruit compote with them.
yum.
I don't grow anything either kirbs, so your not alone.
But I LOVE FRESH sweet Corn on the cob!!!! YUM!!!!
I look fwd to that every summer. Thumbsup
Of course I always keep a fresh supply of toothpicks after eating some, lol

And I love BING Cherries. I hope to get some of those real soon too. Smile
For me, it's cherries, fresh cob corn, blueberries, and fresh watermelon among other produce.
I'm kind of a fruit/veggie idiot so I have no idea what season is what, but...

-My orange tree is getting one little orange which is surprising as it is a young tree and I was told it would be about 3 years before anything grew. It probably won't be edible, but it looks cool.

-Friday one of my student's parents(who is a farm worker) brought me a fresh pesticide free watermelon. However we were going on a field trip so I set it in the staff lounge. When we returned, it was GONE!!! Grrrr....
Cactus pears...and berries actually tasting ripe for a change.
I forgot to add mangoes! I love them, and just finished one. Yum!

Water Lily, are cactus pears really sweet? I don't recall having tried them. Sounds pretty good.
I love sweet corn and watermelon as well as strawberries and tomatoes. In Texas, we have long growing seasons, so we've already had strawberries.
Lots of pumpkins in my area right now. I'm struggling to come up with new recipes to use them up! They are real tasty though Smile
I never knew how good apricots can be until I found out one of the trees in front is an apricot tree!
wow.
We are getting within a week of my favorite meal.

BLT sandwiches (with heirloom red tomatoes)
Tomato salad with yellow, red, and Cherokee purple tomatoes and some salt & pepper
Grilled zuchinni and yellow squash
Roasted/grilled new potatoes with garlic and rosemary (or cooked with fresh peas)
Corn on the cob (peaches and cream picked that morning)
Ice cold watermelon

Add a tall glass of iced mango sun tea (2 bags Luzianne tea to 3 bags Bigalow Taste of the Tropics) and I am a happy woman. Better still if I can sit in the backyard to eat it without the buggies eating me alive.
Blueberries for breakfast every morning and some squash for lunch. I made delicious cherry stuffed chicken with sage and onions - so cherries too. Oh, and I love, love, love all the ripe avocados right now.
