Apparently there was a 5.5 Mag earthquake near Ottawa, ON, and people are reporting feeling it as far away as Michigan, NH, Vermont, Syracuse, most of Southern Ontario and Quebec.

I didn't feel a thing but a lot of people in my building did!!!
Yep! I totally felt it. It lasted about ten seconds or so.

Very cool.
We felt it here in Ann Arbor, MI. A lot of people in my building didn't feel it, but those of us on the 5th (and top) floor of the building felt our chairs wobbling and saw the tops of our cube walls shaking. We all thought we were going nuts for a minute.

As soon as I heard of this, I thought of you, Jo. Glad it was a small one.
I missed it! I had left town earlier that day, of all things...

Mind you, I've experienced an earthquake before (one that had a lot of aftershocks) so I know what I'm missing, but I would have been really close to the epicentre which would have been neat! I've seen emails and posts from friends and family mentioning it, but it sounds like there was very little effect (a couple broken picture frames so far).
I work in Ottawa so I felt it from the 18th floor of my building! It was really scary, I thought the building would collapse.

When I got home, my poor cats were terrified. They're just starting to get back to normal. The dog was fine, go figure.
I didn't feel it but at my office they did... I guess the desks were moving and shaking.
I have relatives in Ottowa and they didn't feel a thing, but my Aunt in Toronto felt the entire thing. She thought she was having a stroke, lol. Boy, was she surprised (and very relieved) to hear it was an earthquake.
