I prefer Miracle Whip on sandwiches but Mayo for salad dressings.
Strange?
Strange?

I had to vote "pie" because I like them both for different things. On sandwiches, I prefer straight up mayo, but if I'm making deviled eggs, I prefer the Miracle Whip, and if I'm making chicken salad, I like a mix of both.

Real mayonnaise.
Not fake mayonnaise.
Not Miracle Whip.

Mayo. REAL mayo, like Cassia says. No fake stuff. No half-fake/half-real stuff. The REAL thing!
Miracle Whip is NEVER used in this house. EVAH!

Mayo for me. Miracle Whip is just too sweet for me and it has a weird texture.

Yeah. My DH hates Miracle Whip. It's Hellman's or nothing for him.

Mayo.
I love it.
I love it.

I can't eat Miracle Whip - it makes me physically ill. I always thought that this was the case for all mayonnaise, but I once had the stuff made from scratch and realised that my problem was with the brand.
I seem to have strange reactions to some preservatives, so that's likely the source of my problem with Miracle Whip.

I find Miracle Whip rather terrible, even as a kid when some adult would try to slip me some on a sammich and tell me it was mayo. I've always loved real mayo, though. I like the new olive oil mayos out now.

I grew up with Hellman's version of Miracle Whip: Spin Blend. Don't know if they still make it, but the only time I ever had real mayo was when eating out. We use Miracle Whip now because it's the closest thing to Spin Blend I can find. Mayo is fine, but in general I prefer Miracle Whip because I like the tang and the fact that it's not as rich as mayo.

I was excited to find mayonnaise from France. They sell it in tubes and it's so good: it has dijon mustard in it, it has so much flavor.
It's not cheap, about $8 a tube.
I grew up on Best Foods(AKA Hellmann's)but when in France had the Amora mayo in the tube.

I was raised on Kraft Mayo, but sometime in my teens ended up trying Mircle Whip and converted the folks. Only Mircle Whip here.

I can't tell the difference, don't care. I use the fat free or "light" variety of whatever is on sale. No preference at all.

Ew I don't like anything, either.
I do make a ranch dip that calls for mayo and I use real.
I don't know the difference really but since DH hates Miracle Whip, I don't buy it.
Otherwise I won't eat it plain or on something like bread where it can be tasted just itself - it has to be cooked/made with something.

THIS IS A GREAT QUESTION Eddy, lol
This was a sore spot in my life when I first met Bob.
He was raised with Miracle Whip
And I was Raised with nothing but Hellmanns REAL Mayo
For the first year of our marriage we always had both kinds in the fridge.
Then after a while I really don't remember when. Hubby came over to my side of the fence and started loving and enjoying Hellmanns
Which INHO is the ONLY REAL MAYO to eat.
I did taste Miracle Whip a few times Cause his sister still uses nothing but Miracle whip (ugh) I agree it is just too sweet of a taste to be mixed with Ham or Turkey or Bologna or whatever.
I love Hellmanns and nothing else.
Back in the days when we had family Picnics and stuff, when Misty was still alive. SIL would serve nothing but Miracle Whip with the sanwhich platters and stuff.
And I recall them days when I had to stop at a little 7-11 store of some kind and overpay for a small jar of Hellmanns to take with me so that I too could enjoy a sanwhich, lol.
Great Topic, Eddy thanks for taking me down memory lane.

I voted pie. I find them both disgusting, with Miracle Whip being slightly more disgusting than mayo.
06-13-2010, 05:51 PM
I'm glad to see that pie, while being second, has a very strong following over Miracle Whip.

I didn't know there was a difference. But I guess that's because I rarely eat either.
