I was just wondering if any of you use any kind of Pop up Blocker with your computer?
( Not counting the pre installed Pop up blockers that come with Yahoo or Google tool bars. Cause imho those apps are just a joke)
Anyway, IF You do have one, PLEASE Tell me what you use? And if your happy with its performance?

I use to have one on my old computer. And when I got this new one, I forgot how annoying these damn pop up's can be.
So, I was wondering if there was any kind of new & Improved Pop up blocker around.
I installed Google toolbar which has an automatic pop up blocker.
But it just does NOT catch the kind of annoying Pop up's
that I get.
And since there are so many different kinds of Pop up blockers around I thought I would ask the FOAK here first before I download any applications.
Thanks in advance for any help I get on this topic.
Yep it's an old one my sister got for me.
I couldn't get it again when I lost it, so she sent it to me again.
I only like it, I've tried others not impressed.
There needs to be a "don't know" option. I know what a pop-up blocker is, but I don't know if we have one or not.
Popup blockers are fairly standard on most web browsers including Internet Explorer which is the default for PCs today.

If you really want to get rid of them, use Firefox and install AdBlock, FlashBlock, and NoScript. This will eliminate almost all of the garbage on the web.
CFS - if you don't get pop-ups nearly every time you surf the net, then you have one somewhere. I could not live without mine, as so many of the sweepstakes sites have them.

Dana do you KNOW the name of your Pop up Blocker? If so may I have it please?
And if not, well that's OK too.

Eddy: I was not impressed with Firefox. It would never let me play
video's or clipe from You Tube or any other source for that matter.
So I really would rather pass on having to go there.
Can't I do some sore of ad warer block with I.E?
I saw this link
Anyone have an Opinion on it?

CFS: So sorry about the Poll I messed up again.
If I knew how to change it I would Smile I put "What is That" instead of "I don't know", sorry about that, lol.

But what I really need is some NAMES for some Pop up Blockers that are avallable.
I Know I can search for them.. But I was wondering if anyone had any to suggest that really work?
I use Mozilla and the one it comes with works well.
Um, I use DH's work lappy, and he doesn't know what IT has installed on it, but it does work well. Wish I could be more helpful.

LOL That's OK Koi I don't need any more help on this topic. Turns out that Windows 7 has a pop up blocker pre installed with settings of high med & low, LOL. I never even knew I had this feature. So I went to Ask.com and typed in the question and then it showed me how to find it, LOL.
I had this puppy for over a month now, and I am still learning new things about it.
Oh well, Live & Learn. Thanks to everyone for all of your imput. Smile
At work, I use IE's built-in blocker. At home, we have Firefox and use NoScript. NoScript can be REALLY annoying--you have to remember to allow certain sites--but it keeps us moving nicely, free of malicious code/scripts.

NoScript is only annoying for the first week and then you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. The key is to temporarily activate each site on a one by one basis. After a while, you'll eventually get to see a pattern in what sites need access and what ones don't.

One other thing I've noticed is that if a site requires more than three or four other sites to work then the site is worthless anyway. Any time you see a site that has ten or more is almost assuredly spam or virus laden.
I just run with Safari and its built in blocker .. no issues that i know of
I know we had it on IE at work, because it would tell me when a pop-up was being blocked.
TW it's called Pop-Up Stopper. I don't know if you can even get it anymore?
It's called Panicware too I guess, I just found the link:

I think I just liked the version my sis got me best. Give it a try. I have no idea how it's newer versions are. I have had mine since around 2004.
Yep, I have a few of them. I don't know how people can use the internet without them! I was watching my mother work on her computer the other day, and she spent more time clicking off ads than actually working! How can she deal with that???

Thanks Dana, But after I found my I.E for Win 7 Pop up blocker install on my system. I don't need to add anything else.
FYI I did try that stopzilla pop up blocker and it was a huge PITA
So I uninstalled it, I think it was conflicting with what I already have in the system, and at the time, I did not know I had it, till I found it after the fact, lol.
Oh well, live & learn Smile Thanks anyway Smile
