CF Scorpio Wrote:What the heck has happened to TV over the years?
Kapitalism and Konsumerism.
CF Scorpio Wrote:Do we as a people not want "hard news" anymore?
Nope. The Amurkin people want to be titilated - screw the news. We're Amurka!
CF Scorpio Wrote:Or are the powers that be hiding something from us and trying to distract us with silly fluff?
Of course. We need people like you to speak up and say "what gives?" and "I'm not as think as you stupid I am".

Very true. That's why I hardly bother looking for news any more. I have a life and I'm busy living it. If something comes to my door and bites me on the ass, I'll bite it back. Otherwise, I have a life and I'm busy living it.

An uninformed public preoccupied with stupid and childish shit can't be bothered to worry about what's really going on, and what's really going on has been the destruction of the middle class and the theft of our democracy so a very few elite can keep getting richer.
Well said! It's why bittercat and I do not have subscription television - no cable, no satellite, and definitely none of this digital TV set-top converter shit, which, for all we know, will be used to spy on the people in addition to attempting to lull us to sleep - and never mind all that's wrong with government dictating how free enterprise should run and how to run it.
It's why I hate Kapitalism. But for being fortunate enough to have somewhere to go when I lost my old apartment, Kapitalism would have not-so-indirectly been the reason for my death when my disability was cut off way back when. Kapitalism and I are mortal enemies (and thus when people I'm close to talk about it, I shut my friggin' mouth for fear of such discussions getting out of control and me losing my friends. They'll have to learn about it on their own before they can talk to me about it).

Yeah, I found that one and passed it on to bittercat, who got hooked.
But like someone else here said, sometimes these things lean too far the other way. It doesn't invalidate it as news, but it gets tiresome to read the same bent all the time.
Boo, that's why I also read magazines like "Reason" and "Strike the Root."
