My co-irkers just won't quit.

There was a discussion at work today about how one guy and two women are about to become grandparents. Woohoo! So the one remaining non-grandmother turns to me and says, "We're not grandparents. Yet!" I replied "No, and I never will be" and she says, "Oh, there's hope for you yet - it's not too late!"

What? I'm about to turn 41, I can't have kids and I don't want any. My BF is 61 and he doesn't want any. But, hey, there's hope for me yet not just to be a mother but to be a GRANDMOTHER!

I responded that I can't have kids so it's unlikely that I'll have grandkids. Someone else at the table mentioned that I can have a step-grandkid. I said sure, that would be great as long as the step-grand-kid lives at least 1,000 miles away. That was pretty much the end of that conversation at least.

No one gets it! I'm not having kids. I'm definitely not having grandkids!

Some people just don't seem to understand that their personal hopes for the future don't apply to everyone.

for Cats.. I feel your pain CNK. I have been there and back again.
But I am proud of you. You held your ground with that snarky co-worker and was able to cut the conversation of grandparents to a merciful ending.
Jesus, what does it take to get through to some people that we choose not to have kids PERIOD! And if we don't have kids it stands to reason their won't be any grand kids either.
I swear some people just don't are not playing with a full deck, lol.
Its been a long time since anyone bothered me about kids or grandkids. They know better then to bring the subject up with me.
Although I may face it again this weekend as I am meeting my nephews baby mamma for the first time.
So I am sure this cow, will have something to say to us about not being parents.
But I know my hubby will take care of it for me. Not that I need his help. But he likes to defend my honor, lol. He is always pretty good at explaining all of this to non CF'ers, lol.
