I have a friend who I haven't seen in awhile due to a host of things from which I will spare you. Long story short, we talked about getting together for our birthdays (her's is May 31, mine was in November, LOL! That shows you how much time has elapsed).

Thing is, she is taking care of her sister's 7-year-old son for a couple of weeks while the sister is away. So this means that whatever we do, this kid will have to be in tow. I asked her if he was a good kid and she said she doesn't know because she's never spent that much time with him.

Folks, I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY don't want to spend my free time with a 7-year-old, especially a kid I've never met. He could be a holy terror for all I know. If he was a little older, I could probably tolerate it but being around kids makes me edgy. (I know I am preaching to the choir here).

So...I think we'll have to put off brunch, dinner, whatnot until he goes back home. I hope my friend understands.
Tell her it is probably for the best that she devote her attention to the child for the time mom is away. She has no clue what he will do out in public and you do not need to be the test subject for that! Let her know a date - after the sprog is gone - that you can get together and relax and enjoy the time, rather than adding in the unknown of a kid she has no idea about.
That's a great response ozarkmoon. Since she's never been with the kid for an extended period of time, it's best she devote her entire attention to it.
Yeah, its probably best not to waste anyone's time trying to have a nice time with a sprog in tow. Just do a rain check until she is free.
I would definately put it off. If youve already waited since November whats a few more weeks. Don't go!!!
ozarkmoon has a great response. Since you don't see this friend often you want to really be able to be with HER not minding a 7yo.
