I was out on the lawn with Gary and he went after(I think) was a wasp(I haven't seen many bees here). He ran away kept licking his paw. I didn't see a dead bee so it must have been a wasp. Some people came over so I wasn't checking on him.
1.5 hr later he was on the couch and his left paw was swollen. I tried looking for a stinger, but he was not cooperative. I tried to ice it, but he didn't like that either. I was reading that if you put baking soda on it that is supposed to help.
I think he will be OK. If anyone has any experience with this, let me know. He is sleeping now, he was drinking & eating before that. Poor guy. I hope he learned his lesson: no wasp hunting!

A baking soda paste (BS plus water mixed into a thick paste) may draw a stinger out. That's an old wives tale, but I remember it working when I stepped on a bee as a kid.

^^ Agreed. It works well. Also, meat tenderizer in the same preparation will help with the pain (strangely enough). Although, he might lick that off...lol
Poor Gary Hug I hope he learns a lesson from this?
Cats are usually pretty smart about not making the same mistake twice.. Unlike dogs who my Poor Misty may she Rip got nailed by a skunk Twice in her young life.
As for wasps, we don't have any here. And Boots is an indoor cat only. And since I never got stung by anything in my life. I cannot help you. I can only offer hugs to you both Hug ((((()))))
I once saw a dog who was stung on the face by a wasp. She was fine after a while (was a bit quiet at first) as eventually the swelling went down. I wouldn't worry about it, although I think the dog was completely fine within 24 hours (maybe even less?) so if it only gets worse than bring him to the vet on Monday or Tuesday.
This morning the swelling is down and he is jumping and walking fine. Good that I wont have to take him to the vet!
