Yeah, that's a harsh thread title, sorry.
I am just SO FUCKING MAD, I COULD (and if I see an SSA rep in the next 15 minutes, I probably would) KILL SOMEONE!!!
While I, and thousands of other people, are getting shafted up the fuckin' ass by the SSA, they're going on about baby names on their home page (
http://www.ssa.gov).
FUCKING BABY NAMES!!! AND I'M HUNGRY AND DON'T HAVE AN INCOME BECAUSE OF THESE MOTHERFUCKERS!
GGAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! AAAAAAARGH! WRRRRWAAAAAAGH! *rampages through village destroying quonset huts and burning innocent villagers to death with fire-breath*
Well, of couse they want people to keep having babies so that theoretically the babies will grow up and pay taxes. Whether today's little Jacob and Emily (top names for 2007) will grow up and get jobs remains to be seen.
Sorry you are dealing with this.
Thanks, CF Scorpio.
They'll get jobbed is more like it.

I am so sorry your dealing with problems with SSA
I KNOW what your going through.
I had troubles with them myself.
But what I did was at the time I wrote a letter to my
congressman years ago. And he started the ball rolling for me
to get my disability income started for me.
( I suffer from a lot of illness too many to go into now)
And after I did that and had all of my DR related stuff
to go with it. I was eventually granted an income from SSA.
Sometimes others can HELP if you let them.
Give it a try and

Yeah, thanks for the kind words, TW. :-)
I do have my Congressional representative helping me. They've been so nice, that even though I'm an anarchist, if this guy runs for federal office, I may vote for him (I don't otherwise vote).
So yeah, if you find some good people, you can get good help. I'm thankful I have it.
Your most very welcome moody_rants
And I am very happy

that you DO have someone helping you out with this.
And don't feel so bad about not voting.
My DH does not vote either.
He can't, cause TPTB keep calling him for jury duty. And he cannot afford to go cause his job won't pay for it.
But ITMT, I WANT to serve on a jury, and no one ever calls me

Story of my life, I always get the shaft!
I got called for jury duty a couple of times. I never ended up going. The first time, I called and said "hey, I'm deaf, I'm gonna need an accomodation". They said I could just opt out, so I did. The second time, I had so much bullshit going on in my life that I ignored it. They just never followed up.
What's TPTB and ITMT? Not always savvy with acronyms (does that make me an acro-numb?)
Oh, and there's more, speaking of the ASS:
An online friend of mine told me last night that her DH got turned down for SSDI after losing most of his hand in a work accident. Their reasoning?
*chuckles* Because he still had one hand, he could lift five pounds, and therefore he could go out and get a job as a stock clerk in a store! *ahem* Mind you, the man had been a master carpenter. Pay disparity much?
As for people's children paying taxes, etc...There may BE no SS fund by the time those kids grow up, anyway.
Jen M.
No shit.
That's partly why I'm working so hard on my music and trying to sell instrumentals while working on my voice. Even if I get reinstated, it's probably going to go to shit eventually, so I need to be able to make my own way.
You're doing great, hon!

Yes the people who run SSI act like it's their own money.
My mother was injured on the job and unable to work (she was a nurse). She had severe vision difficulties and was eligible for disability income. She was unable to drive and her doctors told her that if she continued to work (nursing involves lots of heavy lifting) she was risking permanent blindness.
The SSI people made her go through a hearing and acted like she was stealing the money from hungry babies. She was in her 60s at the time and would never even consider asking for a cent she didn't need and wasn't entitled to. It was really disgusting the way she was treated.
Actually, the problem is that the Fed has been pillaging the fund, leaving it strapped. At least, that is what I have heard.
I'm sorry your mom--or ANYONE--has ever had to go through that.
Jen M.
I'm sorry too, catsnotkids.
I'm gettin' mah gurrrn. We're gonna kill us some ferrrrdral aaaass.

Sorry Moody_rants I thought by now everyone here had a working knowledge of the basic acronyms due to the thread on the last post.
Hmmm, whoever made up that thread? Would you please make it again. ( pretty please)
I need it sometimes myself too, so your not alone Moody
ITMT=In the Mean Time I will explain that TPTB means
"The Powers That Be"
Which is in your case the SSA or SSI whichever the case may be.
ITMT I don't blame you for wanting to kick their collective asses either

Thanks for the acronym lesson, TW!
I thought I knew what ITMT meant, but didn't know about TPTB. Maybe Toilet Paper Tickle Bottom?

Here's another installment of my SSA saga:
Well, this is kind of a mixed bag, but I'm focusing on the good news part of it. Bittercat and I went to a meeting with the SSA yesterday, where we were told that my entire check would be withheld starting in November, to "pay back" the "overpayment" (did I ever mention the eigth of a million dollars?). The good news is the woman gave me a form to fill out and propose an amount to "pay back" per month instead of the entire amount of my monthly check, so that's the way it's going to happen, according to her. So good news: I'm apparently not getting fucked over yet again by these asshats (the woman we met with was nice, so not her).
Can you believe that their plan was to give me nothing until 2012, when in May of that year I'd get $170? What the holy fuck, dude?!? "Here's some welfare, but wait! We're going to keep it to pay back something your abusive ex screwed up for you!"
I can also appeal and take my case to court if they turn down my waiver request yet again. If then the judge decides in favour of the SSA, I will devote a small part of every working day writing to embarrass the shit out of these stupid idiots.
*emptying my AK-47 into the SSA building*
Their stupidity never ends. I would seriously like to meet the person making these decisions and asking him/her what their reasoning is.
