Some people were making me feel kind of crappy about my childfree decision lately... after much thought, and remembering my mantra (thank you Gandhi) "No one can hurt you without your permission".... I finally posted THIS as my status on Facebook, and thought I would share the positivity:

Why am I childfree? Because someday I aspire to own a trimaran sailboat and travel the world with my one-and-only, have a collection of Manolos, and a successful career as an anthropologist....you can't do that with drool and puke hanging off your clothes.

It made me smile....and only re-cemented me in my decision, and reminded me of my reasons for why I'm here, in the moment, of childfreedom today Smile

ETA: My friend just posted in response to some friends that had responded "oh but you can have both, a family and that, it can be done!" SHE SAID "Oh, it can... they (the children) hate you afterwards, but it can be done. Said from a mom who dumped her Louis Vuitton on the bathroom floor after 3 y.o. used it as a barf bag. Lil scrubbin and it was good as new. Drug my lil ones all across the country to zoning meeting, board meetings, etc. No soccer, no cheerleading, etc. All the therapy in the country... they hate me. Childfree... hind sight is 20/20 and a lot less guilt! You go girl!!! "

I got mad props from my parental friend...of course, she is ALSO about 40-something and her kids are high school age now...
Good on your friend! My housekeeper today told me if she had to do it again she wouldn't have had kids and that I'm smart to be CF. Her kids are grown. One of my canine massage clients told me that the world would be a better place without her adult kids in it. I have to say, about 5 out of 10 parents of teens and/or adult kids that I meet tell me they wish they'd never had them.
Great status line - I love it!!!
I meet a quite a few who regret it too. The ones that don't are really good at it, and it's what they always wanted and they are truly happy with it. Good for them, for not being breeders I say. But they don't give me shit for not having them. We'll always deal with those assholes who will though...
I am fortunate to have a few good long distance friends who really stick by me....now if only I could import them to Kansas so I could have lunch buddies!!! hehehe Smile

I only wish the government paid hubby more so that we could start saving now for that wonderful boat Wink We're so far from town right now that all our money is going to pay for gas...ugh. Can't wait to move on post so that we are close to town and I can hopefully get a job!!!
