So yesterday was my orientation day for Kansas State University... got enrolled for summer classes and started enrolling for fall... *happy dance* Banana-1Banana-1

I'm starting my bachelor's in Anthropology (already have an AS in Human Services). My summer class is Physical Anthropology and I've been told it's going to be a challenge....5 days a week starting at 7:30am and I have a 45 minute commute...eek!

Anywho, the campus is AWESOME! The library has 5 floors and is 550,000 sq. ft. Smile The student union building has a bowling alley and billiards in the lower level, an art gallery, restaurants, a Caribou Coffee Cafe...LOTS. And for a big university the people were really welcoming.

So I'm excited Smile Classes start June 7th.
Let me know if you need any advice for college since I stopped counting how many credits I have when I hit 200.
LOL that's awesome Eddy Smile Thanks. This is the first time I set foot on a big campus...so I'm eager to see how different the classes will be compared to my little community college. Luckily I have quite a few classes that transferred to count towards the completion of my BA. Smile The only class I'm really dreading is Spanish 2. I was a Spanish Honor Society student in high school, but my semester of Spanish for my AS was awful, the teacher failed most of the class, and it was the ONLY class I got less than an A in my entire time there.... needless to say all my studying didn't help when the teacher contradicted himself. lol
I didn't realize we were neighbors. I'm in MO. I adored Phs.Anth. and my first prof. in it - Dr. Foster. Man, that was in 1979 - now I feel really old!
Congrats PK Hug and loads of luck to you.

Best wishes to you as you continue your academic career!

Language learning can be SO MUCH FUN! But you have to get into it and let yourself make mistakes.
Thanks guys!!!!!

Hey Ozarkmoon, you live in the same state as my Dad Smile lol He is out near Whiteman AFB.

Eslbee, I LOVED Spanish in high school, and I can still understand some conversations, but my college teacher was such a horrible ASS...he literally said he was only going to teach us what was going to be on the tests, nothing about comprehension or conversational Spanish, and then when it came down to it, he didn't even teach us what the tests required...he taught us something different. So NO ONE in his class was prepared come test day. I failed several tests in that class.... and we started out with 30 students and ended with 7!! It was bad. Most transferred out, the rest failed.
Congratulations! I hope it goes well.
Congratulations! That sounds so awesome.
WOW to Eddy!

Congrats on school! I love going Smile

Ok, since you're going to a much larger school, my big advice is take advantage of office hours. Seriously, just stopping by to chat about class will make you stand out compared to the masses who simply show up for the tests and don't bother to do anything else.

If you have a question about something, make a point to visit their office (or email) instead of asking during a mass lecture. This shows you took the time to actually contact them ad that you care about the course in general instead of just taking it because it's a general ed. requirement. It may not seem like a big deal but when you are at an 88% and the prof is grading papers, that two points gets you an A instead of a B all because you showed some interest.
Congrats! My minor is in anthropology. I loved Physical Anth, that is a great class. You will learn so much and love it!
Thanks so much for the tip Eddy, I hadn't thought of that and that is something I will ACTUALLY make use of...I'm a big one on asking questions.... I really like to know my stuff, and I'm not afraid to ask if I'm stumped, so I will definitely swing by the prof. office from time to time.

And PG!!! lol I almost fell off the couch! OMG, this area is soooo Wildcat crazy I thought when we moved here I would PUKE if I saw anymore purple!!! hahaha I've never seen so many people OBSESSED with a college team!! lol I guess that is the midwest/west for you!! Smile
Wow congrats! Im so jealous you're living my dream of studying Anthropology! LOL
Way to go! Wishing you the best of luck Dust
Thanks guys Smile

I got my textbook ahead of time, and I'm trying to read through and take notes.... I LOVE IT. It's really interesting. I'm glad I'm finally studying something I enjoy! After 6 years spent on a degree that was "blah" this is great.
