So, I've been feeling crappy for several days - kind of off and on. I feel hot, a bit dizzy, and slightly nauseous. This is the time of year that I usually start sneezing, which prompts me to take an anti-histamine for a couple of months. I'm not sneezing, but I'm wondering if this feeling of malaise could just be some form of hayfever/allergies.
Thoughts?
Yes, I think it could be allergies...There is a lot of weird shit going on with allergies this year. If you're past the big 4-0 sounds kind of like the peri-menopause thing I'm suffering......
New theory... I've been taking omeprazole (generic prilosec) to counteract the corrosive effect of ibuprofen on my stomach. I am thinking that this is a side effect/reaction. I hope so. I'm going to stop the omeprazole and wait a week before starting any allergy treatments (since my normal symptom is sneezing, and I'm not sneezing...yet).

HH,
Have you tried an antinflammatory like Celebrex instead of Ibuprofen? I have tried every Nsaid out there for my arthritis and have had GI irritation and bleeding issues. The Cox 2 variations have been much easier to take and have worked well for me. A few have been pulled off the market but I know Celebrex is still around as well as Mobicox. Just a thought...I don't know your history but I have chronic pain issues...I just thought maybe if you went on another antiinflammatory you could stop the Omepramzole.
I also take a similar drug (Prevacid) but it is for buffering Prednisone (also murder on the stomach. I have not noted any side effects with it, I don't have allergies so take my advice with a grain of salt...I just figured if the Omepramezole isn't working for you maybe Prevacid might. Prevacid is expensive however!
The joys of navigating multidrug treatment for chronic pain!
Hope you feel better soon!
Jen
This was the only Allergie Thread I could find to bump.
I just hate my winter time allergies.
I woke up at 7:30 stuffed and congested as all hell. I took some allergie meds and waited for them to kick in. And then I finally went back to sleep only to wake up at 10:30 feeling the same way.
I guess some allergie Meds just don't work well with me.
I have tried
1. Clariton-D I have to sign for it and give them a drop of blood (J.K)

2. A generic version of Bendryl
3. Loratine
And with taking all of them, I am still suffering.
So does anyone else suffer from winter allergies? And if you do what do you take to get some relief?
Generic Allegra worked for me when nothing else did. I used Claritin/Clarinex for years, but it just petered out on me. (Loratadine and Claritin-D are the same--the latter just has Sudafed in it.) A friend suggested I try Zyrtec. It turned me into a walking zombie. Benadryl does the same. There's another new prescription med called Xyzal that's somewhat sedating for me. I can't use it all the time, but I can function on it. If you're looking at OTCs instead of prescriptions, you might also try Tavist or Actifed.

Thanks dune67 I am so miserable right now. I will try anything.
I just hope our stores carry those names. Cause I never heard of any of them. But I WILL look for them, thanks
