My cat Yuki is in love with my robe. It's a soft terry fleece material and every morning when I wake up he jumps on my bed and starts meowing this really funny meow. I take my robe off the hook behind my door and he goes nuts. He starts kneading it like crazy. He does this again when I come home from work in the evening. And if I don't give him my robe, he will start meowing a lot at me.
It's so cute but I'm just curious as to what it's about. Do you have cats that are attached to certain objects and like to knead them? What is the reason behind this?
It probably reminds him of something familiar, and makes him feel good. As a suggestion? Either leave out your robe, and/or buy him a pillow or toy that is made from the same material. Cats knead things when they are happy, so he is clearly enjoying it. If you give him continuous access to it then he won't pester you the same way.
This sounds like my dogs and the afghans. I mean, the knitted throws, not the big Afghan dogs. They love to lay around on those things all day, even though many other materials are equally available. Must be something about the texture.
Ali and Udu like a certain blanket on the bed. It's cotton. They also like pretty much anything fleece.
I'm going to get him a fleece blanket so he can knead away. lol
I have a microfiber heated blanket that my cat, Simon, absolutely loves. Even when it isn't turned on, he loves to sleep on it. Now that it is getting warm outside, I've put the blanket on one of his favorite perches so he can survey his kingdom and by comfy.
That reminds me of how in Japan, they mention how cats love the heated tables they have there.
My first cat loved one of my Snoopy sleep shirts. She would cuddle and knead and suck on the shoulders of it for an hour when I wore it. Very strange, she would not do that with any other shirts.
Funny you should ask if your cat kneads. Cause Boots hardly ever does period on Anything.
Oh he will streatch from time to time and his claws will come out and he will try to kneed for a few seconds on the carpet. But I catch him and tell him he knows better then he runs to his scratch post and claws at that. But the actual push push over and over with soft paws & claws in type action. I have yet to see him do it.
And its funny, I thought all cats kneaded. I guess not, lol
As for your robe ITA find a pillow, or better still a blanket made out of the same cloth as your robe and let your cat have that.

Water Lily and please give Yuki some belly rubs from me, lol
