Seriously, though -- I'm sorry this is happening. Even if the job sucks, it hurts.

that way you can get Unemployment checks, at least.

Could you provide a few more details-what kind of job, how long at job, reason, etc.?

That always sucks! I'm sorry to hear. I wish you the best on finding something new that makes you happy, and in the interim I'm glad that you're going to get better benefits.

Oh that sucks, I'm sorry...but yes, at least you are able to collect unemployment. My mom has been laid off a couple times in the past year (aviation contractor). The economy here blows.

Thanks, everyone! I will be able to collect unemployment, but I have to wait until after the severance date, which is next week.

I was there 4 years, 10 months. I think they just didn't want to give me the 5-year bonus at the end of the year. Plus, work was really slow. I am actually rather relieved. I needed a break. Now I can work on the No Kidding! convention. I will really start job-hunting once the convention is over.

Ah, now I see why you lost your job. It's definitely the bonus. Convenient how it was right before you were going to get it. Also, make sure to follow the rules of unemployment with regards to applying to places even though you are planning the convention. You don't want to lose the benefit just because you didn't search for a job one week.

So very sorry to be so late posting on this. I had no idea you got laid off.. The same exact situation happened to my SIL
She was like months away from getting her retirement benifits and they laid her off too.
The corporate world SUCKS
But at least your taking it all very well CFS I am happy you now have the time to do other things especially the N.K convention. Have fun with it
