A couple of weeks ago, I went to have my "yearly" exam and to have a mammogram. My yearly appointment was at 10:15 and my mammogram was at 11:30. I stopped by the drive thru and got an egg and cheese biscuit, since I didn't know how late I'd be getting done with my mammogram. Well, my gyn asked how long it had been since I had my cholesterol checked & asked me to stop by the lab to do blood work. I didn't know about this beforehand, or I wouldn't have eaten. Well, the test came back high - 267. The dr's office called and asked me to come back without eating to see what the test said. I did, and the nurse called and said it went down to 109. WTH?? Can eating egg and cheese 1 1/2 hours before the test have that much of an affect?? I knew it would be lower if I fasted, but I didn't think it would drop that much. Just would like to know if I should have a 3rd test.

Yep, it can make a huge difference! So, I'd trust the fasting test. But if you want the peace of mind, go for it!
