I just saw a movie called Invincible starring,
Mark Wahlberg, Greg Kinnear, & Elizabeth Banks
Summary:
When the coach of Vince Papale's beloved hometown football team hosted an unprecedented open tryout, the public consensus was that it was a waste of time--no one good enough to play professional football was going to be found this way. Certainly no one like Papale--a down-on-his-luck, 30 year-old, substitute teacher and part-time bartender who never even played college football. But against these odds, Papale made the team and soon found himself living every fan's fantasy--moving from his cheap seats in the upper deck to standing on the field as a professional football player.
If your an Eagles Fan you will like this movie.
If your a dreamer & a diehard football fan you will like this movie.
I am neither, but YET, had to suffer through it.
The things I do for the sake of compromise, lol
Next time, its MY turn to choose a movie! LOL
Standard Operating Procedure: documentary with interviews of the soldiers involved in taking those Abu Ghraib prisoner photos.
Things We Lost in the Fire(from Netflix) with Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro
T.W., I loved "Invincible"! I'm not a football fan, but I am from Philly, and it brought back memories of home.
Just saw "What Happens in Vegas" last night. It was a laugh-riot! If you want to see a silly, very funny romantic comedy, go see this one!

Yes, YEs, YES!!! loved it too.
Last night I watched the second half of Neverwhere. God, Neil Gaiman is a freaking genius. And majorily warped.
The interview with him in the bonus features, especially when describing how they looked for a director was very funny.
"Candy"
Too bad Heath Ledger is dead. Great movie.
I just finished watching "The Tin Drum". It's a German movie made in 1979. It's about a boy who when given a toy drum at the age of 3, can will himself to stop growing. It takes place during the Nazi era and it's definitely interesting to say the least. I did enjoy the film but it was definitely not your typical fare.
I saw a sneak preview of a new movie called "Son of Rambow". It's a British comedy about a boy who's raised in a religious cult and has had a very sheltered life. He makes friends with a boy at school who is a juvenile delinquent and sees his first movie ever: "Rambo". He is totally blown away by it, and the 2 boys start to make their own Rambo movie together. Soon some other kids at the school get wind of it and they all want to participate. Then the boy starts to have problems with his family and the cult leaders.
It's a very cute movie and will make you laugh and cry.

I've seen that! I caught it on IFC once several years ago. I thought it was very bizarre, but interesting. The sex scenes kinda grossed me out, I had to keep telling myself "it's okay, he's a grown man in a boy's body, he's not really a little kid."
I went to see the new Indiana Jones movie last night. It was good, I enjoyed it and felt it was worth staying up past my bedtime on a weeknight to see it at a midnight showing. I thought it was very much like the original three with an over-the-top plot line and cartoon-like action/fighting scenes. Parts of it reminded me of The Goonies. I'd say more, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
The theater where I saw it,
The Alamo Drafthouse, usually does some kind of pre-show stunt or audience participation game for events like opening nights or special screenings, and last night was no exception. Because Indy is notoriously afraid of snakes, they brought in a professional (and world record holding) snake handler with a box of live rattlesnakes and an actual Black Viper.
This guy put seven snakes
in his fucking mouth on stage. And then he walked around the audience with a rattlesnake, letting people touch it if they wanted to. (They did warn people ahead of time so that anyone with a serious snake phobia could leave the theater until the snake show was over.)

I know what you mean. Internet Movie Database said he was born in 1966 so he would have been 13-14 yrs old when he made the movie.

I, too, saw
Indiana Jones last night at the midnight showing. It was entertaining, but not that great. I enjoyed it and had a good time, but I felt a lot of it was too cutesy and cartoony (like WW says above) in that George Lucas style. So I guess for me it featured too much Lucas and not enough Spielberg, even though Spielberg directed it.
Basically it felt a bit rushed and had no character development and no fabulous characters like Belloq from Raiders. It was mostly FX and chases and fights, and not a lot of real story.
That doesn't mean I hated it, I liked it. I just didn't love it.

THat was a sick movie. I saw it when I was a kid. My parents took me to it. If it came out in 1979, I guess I was 13, but still...I remember being very disturbed by it and it gave me nightmares.
DH and I watched the Wal-mart documentary. I think it was called Wal-mart: The High Cost of Low Prices (or something like that). It was interesting, but didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. I think it would have been better if they had more comparisons. For example, they talked about how low the wages are and how many workers are on government aid programs and can't afford the insurance, etc. It would have been good if they had compared say Sam's Club to Costco (who actually treat their workers well and pay them a decent wage).
I'm hoping to go see Prince Caspian tonight.

I saw "Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer" last night.
It was ok. All a bunch of special effects and not a lot of real plot.
Which explains why it died at the box office.
I would not recommend it. The first F-4 movie was a lot better.
IMHO of course.

Hubby and I saw Indy 4 this weekend. I was expecting more. I really didn't care for it. I love Karen Allen so her scenes were great. I just thought it was too over the top. Of the 4 Indy movies, I rank it #3. (I disliked #3 even more than I disliked this one). Nothing beats the original.
I watched "Evening" last night. If you like very slow-paced, emotional movies, then you'll love this one. Personally I was very annoyed by it.
SPOILER ALERT:
I hate movies where everyone's problems are magically solved because of an unplanned pregnancy. One character - who is old enough to know better - gets knocked up, and suddenly everyone is happy and loves each other. The sisters make up, the man decides to stick around and commit, blah blah.
I saw Indiana Jones 4 last weekend. Yuk. I didn't like it very much. I thought Temple of Doom was bad but this one just way over the top.
Aliens? Come on.
Who else guessed from the very beginning that the kid was his and Marion was his mother?
I watched a German film last night called Christiane F. It was about a girl who descends into drug abuse and resorts to prostitution to feed her habit. It was an interesting study on the effects of drug use and the desperation of those addicted to feed their habits.
My only complaint with the film was that it was dubbed over in English. I would much rather have the movie in its original German with English subtitles but that's just me.
