I hope the novel is better than the movie, because the movie SUCKED.
I'm sorry to hear/read that "Shutter Island's" not that great. It's in our queue, and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
We just finished Season 2 of "Six Feet Under" (I know, not a movie.) Things are getting interesting. I was very happy to see Brenda driving off down the street, though I'm sure she'll be back. (No spoilers, please!)

Toy Story 3 - sorry didn't care for it. Too depressing.
Shrek Forever - cute, love the Shreks. Sure since he became a father it can be a bit breederish, but it's a cartoon ogre so I forgive. Puss n' Boots is funny as always.
Watched Kick Ass - DH said it was awesome, I thought it was pretty crappy.
Saw most of "the Other Man" didn't care for it but saw a scene filmed in parts of the town I'm living in, so I got pretty excited about that ROFL.
I watched the remake of "The Crazies" last night. I rather enjoyed it, lots of good suspenseful scenes, I wasn't annoyed by any of the characters, nicely done gore... overall it was great.
I watched "The Little Vampire" again the other night, because I wanted my boyfriend to see it. Very cute movie. He liked it, too.

Primal Fear w/ Edward Norton and Richard Gere.
Older movie, but I really enjoyed it. If you like suspenseful movies, you will like this one.
Dana, I haven't bothered to see Toy Story 3 as I found the other 2 pretty depressing and the article in the paper said there was a scene in a nursery or something involving fire, and the author was surprised it didn't give little kids nightmares. Not my cup of tea.
Despicable Me was adorable, though. I thought the minions were hysterical! They made the movie for me. I totally want a pair of goggles now, LOL.
Just saw A-Team, thought it was pretty good if you just want action. Seemed pretty close to the series, too.
DH and I just watched "The Invention of Lying" w/Ricky Gervais last night ~ so funny (if you like dry-ish/subtle humor)!! We both laughed our butts off. We both REALLY want to see "Inception", but we'll probably wait a couple of weeks since it just came out last night. Saw "Kick-Ass" at the dollar theater a couple of months ago ~ really liked that one. "The Road" was good but pretty damn depressing (I actually liked the book better). "The Crazies" is one I've been wanting to see...next on the Netflix queue. And I do want to see "Toy Story 3", but I'm gonna wait till it hits Netflix.
Hubby & I watched "Law Abiding Citizen" with Jamie Fox
OMG was that a disturbing movie.
If you like bloody movies guys, you would really enjoy this one.

But I did enjoy the plot. Very original, but very disturbing indeed.
"Law Abiding Citizen" was a great movie. My parents saw it too, and they really liked it--despite the gore/violence. "Fuck your pommes frites!" LOL!
Lovelydelusion, my BF saw "The Road" and liked it. When he described it to me, I knew I did not want to see it. It sounded very depressing. Coming from me, that's saying a lot, because I'm a huge David Lynch fan.
We just got finished watching "Youth in Revolt." I'd been looking forward to seeing it. It was OK, but very painful to watch. The main character, ultimately, was pretty pathetic. It captured the drama of being a teen really well, though. Some very funny moments.

"The X-Files: I Want to Believe"-It was OK. Very creepy story concept (but what X-Files episode ISN'T?) Acting was OK. I thought the whole thing about Mulder and Scully being together and having been together was kind of hokey, though. It was never made clear in the series that the baby was his, and I kind of liked it that way. Oh, well--just my personal beef with it. Otherwise enjoyable.
"The Book of Eli"-I thought this was a great movie, personally. My BF didn't like it, because he felt it was pushing organized religion, even though said religion was said to have been the start of the movie's war. I saw it on a more global/general level. I saw it as a hero's journey sparked by Faith. That could apply to ANY faith. I thought the music, the cast, and the cinematography were fantastic.

Hubby & I saw "Public Enemies" with Johnny Depp last night.
I really wish Jonny would not do roles that wind up having him be dead at the end. But it was a good movie and he did very well with his part as the lethal John Dillinger.
I always did enjoy a good gangster flick, lol.
But imho "Casino" is still the best flick in that venue.
Hot Tub Time Machine.
Not as funny as I thought it would be. It had its moments but I didn't think it was worth the word of mouth hype that it received. It was only an hour and 39 minutes. Movies sure are getting shorter these days.
We watched about half of "Enemy of the State" last night. I've seen it before. Good movie.
We started "Frontiers," but didn't get too far. BF wasn't feeling too well.

I watched "The Losers" and "Kick Ass" tonight and enjoyed both. Fun, silly, over the top action that had me laughing and entertained the whole time.
I also rented "The Road" but will watch that one tomorrow, I just was not in the mood for a depressing movie.
I went and saw "Inception" tonight... visually stunning but quite honestly I was a little restless and bored throughout the movie. I would never watch it again, it's a one viewing only, for me at least.
We saw Agora yesterday. It's about the burning of the ancient library of Alexandria, Egypt, and Hypatia--she was a mathematician and teacher. She had to be unmarried(and CF of course) to maintain her teaching and research. This was when the Christians were gaining power and there were riots between Christians, Jews and Pagans. It brings up questions about faith and science and has a lot of parallels with what we are still dealing with.
More likely this movie is showing in town with art house theaters. Too bad, it's really good. Save it on your Netflix queue if you can't find it playing near you.
Crazy Heart - loved it!
Leap Year - stupid, predictable, not worth watching
Men Who Stare at Goats - strange, only OK for me, J. liked it
We watched "Frontiers" a night or two after I last posted. It was OK. Pretty predictable, but not too bad. The ending pissed me off/frustrated me, though.
I tend to like most of the movies that Lion's Gate puts out. A lot of them are mediocre, but I like their aesthetic, and most of the films are, at least, original--something heavily lacking in Hollywood today.
We have "Pirate of the Great Salt Lake" to watch, but I don't know when we will. I got that, based on someone's comments here about it.

Hubby is home all week ( long story see good news thread)
But we just got done watching "2012"
Wow that was a disaster flick to end all disaster flicks.
Awesome special effects, and very touching scenes in it as well.
Good movie, I am glad I recorded it

I ordered three movies from Amazon.ca on Thursday and they arrived today!
I watched "Sea of Love" with Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin. I had seen it years ago when it first came out (1989) and loved it. I've only seen it the one time but did remember that I really liked it so I ordered it (it was a good price). I wasn't sure it would stand the test of time but it has. It was as good as I remembered and it's been so long since I've seen it, that I really didn't remember the ending so it was a surprise. Good movie.
On a side note; I find it interesting that both movies and TV shows today take a much faster route and move along so quickly. That, along with the fact that most movies are only about an hour and a half long. I forgot how much I enjoy movies that actually have a nice story line and something that you can really get into that lasts for a while.
It's too bad that most movies just try to hard to grab your attention right from the get go. I'll take a nice meandering - but not boring - thriller over today's thriller any day of the week.
