I just finally saw Tomb Raider. I never saw it when it was in theatres. I love Angelina Jolie! I loved all of it except the last fifteen minutes which were over the top stupid. That 'bungee ballet' scene was AMAZING!
I watched The Mist last night. Interesting film...not sure how I feel about the ending though. It's really more about human nature and how people deal with stress and being trapped than it is about the "monsters" in the mist. It was very engaging, but I thought that there were a lot of other options that could have been explored aside from what they did.

I also watched a cheesy vampire flick on sci-fi called The Insatiable. It starred Sean Patrick Flannery as a dorky salesman who witnesses a vampire chick kill someone. He then becomes obsessed with her and recruits the help of a sort of vampire hunter (played by Michael Biehn) to help him find/kill her. It was pretty corny and low budget, but kind of a guilty pleasure at the same time.

I also watched Atonement a few days ago. Interesting movie, but very slow. The cinematography, acting, etc. were all fantastic. However, I'm still not sure how I feel about it, or if I actually liked it or not.

To show you how tragically unhip I am, DH and I saw the first Pirates of the Caribbean last night for the first time. We just never got around to it. I've even TiVoed it a couple of times and ended up deleting it for space. It was a pleasant diversion from all the papers and student drama I've been dealing with lately. It was also a nice warm-up for our June Disney trip.

We just watched Lars and the Real Girl. Now hubby hardly crys at movies but he was tearing up during this one and I have to admit this movie moved me. The previews you think oh this is gonna be a real silly movie about a guy that falls in love with a sex doll. But you will be in for a real treat with this one. Such a sweet movie and wonderful acting. Also saw Before the Devil Knows your Dead. Again great acting but really sad story. Brothers decide to rob their parents jewerly store and of course everything unravels.

DH and I just watched Lars and the Real Girl last night. We loved it! It was funny, touching, heartbreaking, and heartwarming all at the same time. Ryan Gosling is just such an amazing young actor. I can't wait to see how his career is going to unfold. It's funny that you mentioned your husband welling up at this movie dachshundsrule70, because mine admitted that he would have been crying like a little girl with a skinned knee if he would have been watching it alone.

I saw "Deception" on Friday. Don't waste your money. If you're an NYC resident, you'll get a big kick out of the lack of subway continuity.

Yep, I'm on a Chinese film with English subtitles kick! I rented "Farewell, my Concubine". I cannot get it out of my head. So sad, so haunting. It's not beautiful like "Lust, Caution", "Curse of the Golden Flower", or "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" were, but it's strongly character driven, with some beauty in it, too. The delicate child who plays the boy actor Douzi is heartbreaking, so much so that when he grows into the famous adult actor Dieyi, you still see the child in him at times. Every time I woke up last night, I had the film on my mind, and it's on my mind still. That may be one I have to own, and watch several more times!
I saw Young@Heart on Monday. It is excellent! I definitely recommend it. Sad but still manages to be a "feel good" movie.

I saw Lars... in October at a local film festival and loved it, too.
I watched The Blair Witch Project last night. I had seen the movie several years ago but had wanted to watch it again. It was pretty good and I thought it had an interesting concept trying to make the film look like a homemade documentary.
I saw a movie called "Monster House" last night
It was pretty good.
Of course if your not into animated movies you won't like it.
But I am, & I did, lol

Its about 2 kids who live across the street from an old mans house
This old man makes us C.F people look like angels, LMAO
But anyway he had a heart attack screaming at a kid and
was taken away to a hospital.
Once he was gone. His house took on life.
That is all I will say...
It is a good rental, and has a happy ending.
And if anyone here enjoys the show
"King Of Queens" Kevin James is one of the voices in "Monster House"
Beatnik
We saw Mister Tom last night. Had been a Masterpiece Theater movie.
Set in WW2, an old bitter man ends up housing one of the London children evacuated from the city during the Blitz. Very sweet story of how both open up to each other. A weird side story with the boy's psycho mother.
This was a tough movie to watch for me.
But I had to check it out just for all the hoopla it got when it first came out.
I finally was one of the last people to see......
"The Da Vinci Code"

As a liberal jew I don't get it.. And I don't want to offend anyone here.. But I just don't understand the hype.. Its just a movie people its not real.. If you don't like the movie walk out and shut up" but noooo we have to have a generation of gladyis cravitz's in our nest
and for some reason a movie like this gets huge hassles.
I thought the movie was just ok.
If anyone here really loved it? I Apologize in advance.
There was some good scenes in it. I can't for the life of me recall it right now due to my meds just kicked in LOL
Oh yea the dude beating himself.. OMG that was awful.
Some men are just too sick for words. I am so happy my DH is not into whipping himself.. lol he lets me do it instead, lol, just kidding. But anyway...
I can FINALLY SAY YES! I saw "The Da Vinci Code" Smile
TW, I think the book was much better (although personally I prefer Angels and Demons), and that's where most of the controversy began. It's my understanding that many fans of the book were disappointed with the movie. I thought it was ok, but certainly not fantastic. There was just so much left out of the movie that made the book so much more interesting.

The movie "DaVinci Code" is okay, as a film with action and a mystery. As to the story plotline itself -- I like it because it overthrows generations of teachings in the Catholic Church, and that's fine by me! HAHAHAHAHA!!! Even if it's fake, it's fun, and a bit of wish fulfillment fantasy!

If you're on a Chinese film kick, might I suggest a film for you? It's called Raise the Red Lantern and follows a girl who is picked to be the fourth wife of a member of royalty. I had seen it several years ago and it's actually the next one on my Netflix queue.
Iron Man rocked my friggin' socks on Saturday! Big Grin
DH and I went to see Iron Man last night.

Holy Crap, that was a great movie. Probably one of the best Marvel comic adaptions to date. (and I wasn't ever a huge fan of Iron Man comic series) And Robert Downey Jr did great.
And definately ROCKED. Loved the soundtrack.
Re-watched Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Fun films (although I never played the games, so I don't know how well they fit), and I now need to rent the third one.

Watched the Alvin and The Chipmunks movie (DH wanted to see it). It was kind of cute, and a decent throwback to The Chipmunks of old. I'm not usually a fan of that sort of thing, but I didn't feel like it was a complete waste of my time.

Let's see...what else did I watch (I was sick for a few days...watched a lot of television)...

Oh yea, I watched "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" again. DH and I are planning a trip to Savannah, so I wanted to watch it for the scenery.

Started to watch "Cloverfield", but I fell asleep about 15 minutes in. It's not the movie's fault though...I was on lots of cold medication. Although I did have a friend tell me that those first 20 minutes or so are kind of tough to get through. I may try to finish it watching it tonight.

This is one of the very few horror films I liked. It was not gory, and the documentary format was genius!

DH loved it and so did another friend. I have heard really good things about it.
