Ick. Comments like that make me really sad. Why do people think it's appropriate to be hateful? It's sad that someone thinks like that and even worse that he believes it's OK to talk like that. I'm sorry for your friend.

Would that be a good opening to ask your BF how she feels about being "engaged" to a homophobe? Not in so many words, of course.

That's it. He flat out sucks hardcore and she should not marry him, like, at all. He's a controlling rednecky asshole and will seriously make her life nothing but miserable. I just hope she can be strong enough someday to get out, because this will not be a happy ride. Can you imagine what it's going to be like when she starts pumping out kids with him? She will be trapped with him forever, even if they get divorced.

She actually did mention that after spending the weekend with her sister and her two kids, that she's reconsidering having kids. And not even that her nieces are difficult kids, but that her family (mom, dad and sister) is so coddling that when she tried to correct her 5 year old niece and tell her that it is inappropriate to use the word "shit" at the dinner table that she was reprimanded and told that she needed to apologize to the 5 year old (who was knowingly doing this to get a reaction from the adults).

If she did decide to have kids I know that she would be a PNB, but I'm not so sure about her redneck, asshole of a fiance.

Christ, I hope she refused to apologize. That would have been my exit cue right there.

Holy hell. No offense, but it sounds to me like your BF needs to ditch this piece of crap guy, AND her family! YIKES!
