I am quitting my job at the hospital. I have been there 3 years and one month.
My accuracy rate was down and I told them I would do better if they let me work fewer hours. They said no. I said, then maybe it's time to find someone else to do this job.
Plus, we are moving into the house we just bought soon and joblessness is a good time to take advantage of that extra time for packing and moving.
I am not worried, even in this economy, about finding another job. Recruiters call me for contract coding companies and that way I would have more flexible hours, since the coders fill in for the backlogs. I have an ex-coworker/friend who works for one company and she said she would be a reference.
Another issue is the office politics. Some people are favored by the bosses and can do no wrong. Or do wrong from what we can tell, but are enabled in their incompetence by the bosses. I have had enough.
I actually feel OK about this. It's time to move on. The people I worked with in my group have worked there 20-30 years, which is hard to believe with how the workworld is now. I admire their loyalty and devotion to their coworkers. Most of us under 50 will probably not know that kind of longevity with one employer.
