I know some of you may disagree with me or think I didn't give it enough time, but I felt it best to just return her to the shelter. The woman there also agreed with me. For whatever reason the cat just didn't seem to be the least bit happy with me or my apartment. I have scratches all over my feet and legs from simply walking past her. Of course, as soon as I got her back to Renee she was all purrs and snuggles, but she still didn't want anything to do with me. I think this was for the best. Renee is going to keep looking for a better match for me because Poe was so excited to have another cat here. He just kept trying to play with her, and she just kept ignoring him (though she didn't attack him like she attacked me). So I still think I'm right about him needing a companion...that cat just wasn't the right one.

Back to square one...

No judgments here! You did the right thing. I hope you find another kitty who works out - there will be the right one for you!
I'm just glad you're willing to try again, especially because Poe was interested. Please keep us up to date.
I'm sorry that it didn't work out, but I'm glad that the shelter worked with you and was able to take the cat back. Hopefully your next attempt will be more successful.
Sorry, I'm galavanting in the countryside this week and just saw your update.

Sounds like you definitely did the right thing. If the shelter is willing to work with you on this, and you are willing to make the drive to see them, then that is AWESOME and you are lucky. You'll figure it out pretty soon. I love fostering because it allows me to meet cats ahead of time, and I can decide if I want to keep them. If the rescue place you've contacted lets you do this, then great!

So, if possible, keep taking in more cats as she suggests them. I don't expect that it will take long - within the next couple one of them will click.

If all the kittens are acting oddly then it probably was either the vaccination or something similar. She probably would have eventually forgotten the association that she got between your place and the bad feelings after a while, but I can understand that it would have been a long 'battle' and you're better off trying for a more smooth adoption.

Good luck!
