I lurk on a local Moms board for the trainwreck value. I don't have an account and don't post because I don't like it when trolls come onto this board. But I did find this little gem this morning.

Have any other moms flown in their eighth month? DH is going to Charleston on business for a week and I've always wanted to go - I'll be in my 36th week. My dr has advised against travel, but hasn't really been forthcoming with a good reason. I could really use a week away in a hotel before our fourth little guy comes along!

This moo's name on the board is 3sons. I would think with 3 kids she would know why her doc doesn't want her to travel. For starters you get the airport and you have to do a lot of standing in line at security and walking to get to your gate, etc. There is NOBODY to help you. And no you can't butt to the front of the security line simply because you're pregnant. There is also a very good chance you could go into labor at 30,000 feet. Not good. If that did happen this dimbulb would probably be the first one to sue the airline for failing to provide adequate care or some such nonsense. You know, when you choose to become a parent you have to make some sacrifices -- and that includes "a week away in a hotel". Sorry moo.

Also, I don't get why clueless spouses think that business trips are all fun and games. They're not. There are hassles at the airport to get to your destination, staying in a a hotel and sleeping in an unfamiliar room, and eating out which is often unhealthy and can wreck your diet.
The moo is probably thinking of the case where some other moo ready to pop went on a flight and went into labor during the flight. The airline rewarded her and the new kid with a life time of free flights. Why is stupidity being rewarded? But that's another issue.

If her hubby is on a business trip, chances are he's going to be spending his time there conducting business from morning until whatever time in the late afternoon or early evening. He'll probably be having lunch and maybe dinner with the business associates. So thinking of this trip as going on a holiday is pretty dumb. She'll be alone much of the time and if she brings her other kids, she'll be spending the whole time baby sitting.

It's funny that she didn't mention if her husband was OK with it. I bet he was hoping to get away for a week to get a break from family pressures and get some peace and quiet in the evenings.
