I am so excited about doing this. It is scheduled for today. I saw the doctor last Wed and he had an opening. He is a great doctor and does not have any problem doing it. No questions, just total agreement that condoms impede on spontaneity. 2010 is going to be a whole new ballgame

I'm so jealous, I was declined when I went for a consult, but at least my DH was able to get a vasectomy.
Good luck with the procedure!!!!

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Congrats and good luck!
Jen M.
Congratulations!!! I hope it goes well!
YAY!!! I'll have a year with Essure come end of February.
It's been 4 years! since I got snipped... it's great! Congrats, and let us know when you're back

Congrats. I hope all went well with the procedure.
It's been a week and I feel really good. Cool to see so many other people have done the same thing. I wished I had done this sooner. My doctor wanted me to be completely under since I haven't been pregnant before. I didn't tell him about my abortions because I felt that since they were done very early, it didn't apply to a full-term pregnancy. Those anesthesia drugs worked instantly. When I woke up I didn't even realize it was over. I was sleepy all night and the next day. Other than that, I've been going to Curves and doing my 30 min cardio jog/walks all week.
I'm so glad it went well for you!! Someone asked me once if I had any regrets and I said, yes, I regretted not having it done sooner.

And like you I was right back in the gym within a couple of days.
Congrats!!!
Congratulations!! That is so great!
(Even though DH had a vasectomy many years ago, I still wonder if I should be sterilized. I don't know if Essure is covered under my insurance, but I know a tubal would cost me $100 OOP)
Glad to hear it went so well. I thought I heard there was some kind of follow-up testing to make sure the patient is actually sterile. Is this true, & if so, what does it entail? Please enlighten.
It sounds like your recovery was very speedy! Good to hear. My friend recently went in for her initial appointment with a gyno (she asked to be referred to mine, as I was very pleased with her) and as her only remaining step in the process is to have the surgery (she's getting a tubal, it's just easier here)... I think that she's also wondering why she ever delayed. Still, better now than later!
Congrats again.
Koi - you are supposed to get a test after three months to make sure that the implants worked. My doctor told me not to bother so I didn't. It's just a cya thing for the insurance companies, apparently.
I would get the test. ABSOLUTELY! It was a real comfort knowing for a fact that I was blocked. Remember, these things CAN fail -- they are not 100% perfect. And some people may be slower to grow the scar tissue, and the three months may not be enough time. I took the test about four or five months after my exam, and one tube showed a very slight leakage at the uterus end, but it didn't go very far back -- but that probably means that tube was slow to close, and maybe if I'd had unprotected sex at the three-month mark, it would have been a catastrophe!
Thanks for the info, CNK & PG.
Opilies: So sorry to be late posting here. I want to wish you the best of luck, Its always nice to be in the hands of a nice Doctor.
