I have mixed feelings about the episode too. I felt like it was kind of a let-down and that thing with the cave of light was a little corny in my opinion. I'm hoping the writers can come up with a better way to make that make sense and not be cheesy.

I loved it. It was great having insight as to what Jacob is protecting on the island and why. Or least as much insight as we're allowed. I loved seeing The Man In Black being a real person with feelings and a history. No, he does not have a name, not yet anyway. It's interesting to try to figure out if the Smoke Monster is what became of MIB's soul, or did he kill MIB and take his form. He told Jack he had to take the form of dead people, like he did with Christian and Locke. Did the Smoke Monster already exist down in there and kill MIB and take his form? Or did the MIB's soul turn into the Smoke Monster and he shed his mortal body?
Wow...that was weird.
So Jack used to have chest hair and Kate used to wear lip gloss?
I noticed Kate's lips right away. Hmm...

Strange.

That's my guess, since fake mom told Jacob that inside the light cave is a fate worse than death.
Did anyone else wonder what the fake-mom whispered when MIB killed her? She said something, and I tried to rewind it and play it with closed captioning, but all it said was "indistinct whisper". But the folks who write LOST wouldn't have put it in there if it wasn't significant, so I'm curious to know what it was that was said.

They've got a lot to do in the final 3 hours...

Yes, which is why Jacob put in there. He knew he couldn't kill him so he did the next best thing.
All I will say is, Now I am more lost with "Lost" then ever before.
Well maybe a few answers were given, but not many, lol. Ok well if the twin boys were born on the island.
Then what was the first original story about that baby's can't be born on the island all about?
WTF. This show really makes no sense to me at all.
But at least we know why the light in the tunnel is important.
And why did Jacob's brother have no name? This show has my brain in knots, lol.
I think it's that children "conceived" on the island don't make it to birth. That woman washed up on the island, she didn't get pregnant there. Same with Claire and Aaron...she was already preggo when she got there. Sun, on the other hand, needed to get off the island so that her baby wasn't in danger.

Yes! Last year I was looking at some photos of Matt Fox as Jack on the internet because I wanted to see more of his tattoos, and I noticed in early episode photo stills he had hair like a normal person, and then in more recent show stills he was waxed. His muscle tone has also varied. I hate the waxed look on men, I wonder what producer made him do it!

Thanks Vanessa, I forgot about that detail. That helps clear things up a bit for me. Smile

Something about the last episode makes me worry this is winding down to a bad way -- as in, unworthy of the series and the build-up and the through-line. I don't know -- can't put my finger on it.

I agree. I want the finale to blow me out of the water but I have this terrible feeling that it wont.

It's like watching a great movie but when the ending comes you're like "What the fuck?". It's like the final five minutes of the movie ruined the entire previous two hours and makes you realize it was all a huge waste of time. Ugh. I hope that doesn't happen.

I have had that same feeling Birthday Twin for about 5-6 weeks now. I just think it will be a huge let down.. I don't know why but I just do. I hope I am as wrong as I can be, but I doubt I will be.
Wow. OK. That was much better. Great episode.
Man, we are losing people left and right! I expected Zoe, but not Widmore. And is Richard dead now too? Or can he be killed?
I don't want this show to end. I know it needs to, in order to stay so good, but I'm not ready for it to be gone. I like that it works my brain and makes me think.
Final episode tonight! I'm so sad Sad
FYI - there is a two hour retrospective prior to the finale. The finale is aptly called "The End".
I won't be able to watch the finale live, so I will be avoiding as much media as I can until I can watch on Tuesday. This is one time I don't want to see any spoilers.
Of course, someone will probably walk into my office and say, "Wow, it was all Walt's dream!" or something like that.
Paloma: Walts dream? LOL OH NO Don't say DREAM! for anyone let alone poor Walt.
This show better end that that makes fans happy
Oh yea to all who have DVR's JIMMY KIMMEL late night has guest stars from The Cast Of Lost on his show tonight. And they said they would show alternate endings to Lost? Hmmm Did they have so many ideas in how to end it they did not know which to choose?
GRRRR I hope they chose a good one is all I have to say, lol.
