Well if anyone was wondering why I have not been posting lately its cause I have a huge problem.
Its sort of embarrassing to say the least.
I have no idea what I have.
But I do have a DR appt on Monday ( more $$ going on our plastic as we still have no health insurance) But this is cheaper then going to ER
I can hardly sit like a normal human being.
I am sitting half assed on the chair typing as is.
On my left butt cheek is a LUMP
The size of a baseball.
I can't see what it looks like But hubby says its all red and purple.
It hurts like a MF
And its hard to walk or sit.
I tried icing it down to get the swelling down. That seemed to help some. I tried everything to get it to pop on its own.
I think its one of those hard ass zits that got out of control.. OR its a boil of some kind.
Whatever it is, no matter what I tried to use, like soaking, or putting creams on it, nothing worked.
So I have to bite the bullet and get it lanced.
So, if you don't hear from me in a few days you will know my ass is grounded, lol As in having to lay on my tummy and follow Doctors orders.
I was just wondering if anyone else had anything similar to this in their lives.
Or am I the only misfit that has to deal with these horrible skin issues.
All hugs would be greatly appreciated.
I once had a terrible boil in the same location. LOL It was HORRIFICALLY painful, and the doctor prescribed antibiotics. It's an infection, and antibiotics should help.
Hoping antibiotics will do the trick. i had something similar last year around this time. I went to my MD and she had me go to the ER where they had to open it up and drain it, packed it(no stitches) and sent me home with antibiotics and vicodin. It was extremely painful, hard to move without pain, and then the vicodin made me almost faint after I got out of bed the next day! Then I had to go back to the ER to remove the packing(no anesthetic this time, ew!).
Let us know how it goes.
Hi TW, I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I hope the doc can help. Can let us know what he or she says? I have a very similar problem. It is ongoing. I get them on my rear end and also the upper parts of my legs. I had one on my leg a month or so ago that was so big and so painful I could hardly walk. I usually have to wear black slacks in the middle of summer for fear one will burst at the wrong time. I've always figure mine was related to terrible acne I had on my back and chest when I was younger. I still get some blemishes and blackheads there but they are small. I remember when I saw a skin doctor in college he said I had Type 4 acne, which is the most severe and at that point your blemishes have many characteristics of cysts.

This sounds completely crazy but I haven't gone to the doctor because I'm simply too embarrased. I haven't been to see my OB/Gyn in two years either because of the embarrasement.
Sounds like a furuncle(look it up on the internet for more info).
UPDATE:
Well this is the first time I can sit without being in agony, Banana-1
Mondays DR appt went something like this.
DR Z took a look at my butt, and said well he could give me a local and squeeze it out, or just do it without.
I told him to go for it.
I should have asked for the local.. But I was trying to save $$
OMG I was in agony as he proceeded to cut my ass open & squeeze on my butt cheek and drain out the goo.
After he was done He told me I had to soak 2 times a day in bath water
And then afterwards put hydrogen peroxide on it and then antibiotic ointment on it and then dress it with bandages two times a day.
Well TG my DH has been a wonderful nurse and he has been doing all of the work in taking care of my sweet tush, lol
So today is the first night I can actually sit and let you know that I am feeling much better today.
Tomorrow I have a follow up appt with Dr Z at 2PM.
He will let me know how my butt is looking. I figure with all the soakings and dressings and with me on oral antibiotics ( Keflex 500mg 4 times a day) I am on the mend.
Of course with me being on the damn Keflex. It has given me yet another yeast infection.
But I will take care of that later.
ITMT I just wanted to thank everyone for their concern.
And well wishes.
And it sure is nice to know I am not the only one that had to endure this
Humiliation in front of a Dr.
Although I have to give DR Z a lot of credit. He never once made me feel uncomfortable about it.
I guess he knew I was in enough agony as is, LOL
I put off going to the MD too, but the ER doctor said what I had was very common and he was very matter-of-fact and did a good job.
I'm sure you will be fine soon.
Update:
After My follow up visit with DR Z. I was told that Hubby is doing a wonderful job taking care of my butt.
The hole is looking good and will eventually close up for good. Of course I will have scar tissue for the rest of my life. But, for now I still need to heal. I am down to one soaking a day. And still 2 dressings a day.
Hubby has to go to the store to buy more gauze, but thats OK, lol
The good news is I can sit, without a lot of pain anymore Smile
Now the fun begins, as I know it is healing. Cause it is starting to itch like mad.
TG I have no plans of leaving the house.
Not very lady like to scratch ones ass in public, LOL
Glad to hear you're doing better!
You poor thing to have to go through this! I'm glad you are on the mend, itchiness aside. I hope it continues to heal!
It's a little ironic. I came on this board area to talk about the same thing!

My husband's got a boil or something on his knee. A week or so ago, he told me he had a pimple on his knee that popped on it's own but it still hurt. I looked at it and it didn't look bad so I didn't think it would be anything. Well, since then, it has developed into this massive boil about an inch in diameter.

He didn't want to go to the doc so I lanced it for him but I don't think I got it all. I think I'm going to have to go back and reopen it.

But after doing some researching, I heard that Campho-Phenique, which is supposed to be for cold sores, is supposed to help the boil come to a head so you can drain it and help stop infection. I think I might pick some up and try it.
JMK if you have health insurance I would not mess around with this on your own. Your hubby may need some antibiotics inside him to help fight the infection as well.

As for me my boil is healing up nicely thanks to all the good care my DH is providing me.
Every day TWICE a day he pours Hydrogen peroxide on my butt and then puts Triple antibiotic ointment on the hole that the Doctor made.
It will take time for the hole to close. It was a very DEEP hole.
Cause the BOIL was huge!
And he had to make sure he got it all drained out.
Hug to you JMK and your DH I hope is knee feels better soon.
At least he got his in a better location on his body then I did, lol.
Trust me, I told him that I wouldn't let him go too much longer without going to the doc. I will take him if I have to. He says it's feeling better though. I guess we'll see.

I'm glad you are doing better tho! Big Grin

I hope by now your hubby is doing better JMK? If not I hope you stick to your word, lol.

I am doing much better too thanks!. The hole in my butt is finally beginning to close on its own. And I don't have to do the tub soakings anymore, Banana-1
Well, actually, it appears my DH is doing much better! A friend of ours said his doctor recommended Prid for infections and boils. It's an old tymey homeopathic remedy for drawing out infection. You put the salve on the affected area, cover it with a bandage and change it twice a day. You aren't supposed to lance it or anything.

So we got some and tried it. We stopped messing with it and just used the Prid. Worked like magic! The bandages that covered the wound were getting soaked with the pus and blood that were coming out of the wound. At first I was still worried but he said it felt better. Now after a few days of using it, the wound is a LOT smaller and it doesn't hurt him nearly as bad and it looks like it's getting better.

I told him if this worked and healed his knee, then I would kiss his friend for recommending it. So, maybe if you go back to your doctor for a check up, you could ask him about it. Hopefully, this doesn't happen to you again, but if it does, maybe you can use this stuff instead of getting it lanced.

Yay for wound healing!!Banana-1

PLEASE Tell me where to buy that salve as my DH has the same thing your hubby has. Only his is on the back of his thigh.
He has a DR appt set up for the 8th. But, If you got something that works? I would love to try it.
Kudos to your pal for suggesting it.
NOW PLEASE tell me where to buy it? And How much was it?
Thanks! Smile And the name is Prid? I never heard of it, lol I hope its available in Ohio.

Update on me....
My butt is feeling much better Smile I am down to one bandage changing a day! Smile
You can buy Prid at Walmart! Here it is listed on Walmart's website. You can type in your zip code below where it says "Find in Store" and it will give you a list of all the Walmarts in your area that carry it. You can find it in the aisle with the neosporin, band-aids and ace bandages. I found it below eye level. It's looks just like the picture but it's much smaller than you would think it is. The box itself, with the metal tin inside, is about 2 inches by 2 inches square. The tin is not much bigger than a pill case. That tin will go a long way though and it cost me about $4. Way worth it!

Update on my DH, his knee is slowly healing and looking much better. Now, it just looks like a big scab. When it "drains" it's just blood now, no pus. He thinks it will be fine now and I feel better about it. This is what we did: take a non-adhesive 2x2 gauze pad, put Prid on the pad, then apply it to the wound. Then we just wrapped his knee with an ace bandage to keep the pad in place. He wears it all day and at night when he sleeps, then changes it twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Sometimes, he just skipped the Prid because there was so much on the wound already and he wanted to let it dry a bit. He would also let the wound air out a little in the evening while he was home and then wrap it before bed.

Also, the Prid is really hard, dark brown and it smells like roofing tar. So you kinda have to work it with your fingers to warm it up so you can use it, but it works. Just don't smell it while you are putting it on. Big Grin

I had never heard of Prid either until this. Apparently, if you google it, you will find some people who said it was something that was always in their house holds as a child. And their moms would use it like neosporin. But now that I know about this stuff I will probably keep it in my house.

Anyway, sorry about the novel. I'm glad your butt is better Wink I hope your DH gets better too.
COOL Thumbsup THANKS for the info on Prid.. I DID look it up, and your right it's available at WalMart
I told my hubby about it and He said he might try it before his DR appt on Tues. If it looks better by then then he can cancel his appt and save some $ lol But I doubt that will be enough time.
I sort of got the info a bit late. That is my fault not!!! yours
But at least we know about the stuff. So if I get another one brewing I can "nip it in the bud" with Prid.
Thanks! Smile And I am happy your hubby is feeling better too. Smile
