OMG I want one of these someday.
I love the mini commercial where the cat takes off running like its scared for its life, in the meantime don't bother metioning that pet mom has a 5 inch scratch across her shoulder from the cat leaping up and taking off behind the couch, LOL
I know I can clip Boots nails easily.. I have never hurt him yet.
But he is getting wise to me.
When he see's me reaching for the clippers he takes off, lol.
So, who knows maybe this product might work? Anyway,
Anyone here have this in their home?
If so, does it work? and is it worth it?
If not, no big deal, I still want to get one someday

Wow, if my cats would use one of these I would be so thankful!
We just got a brand new king size bed and my female cat has decided she like to scratch the corners and it drives me crazy.
I have clear tape over the corners, but this behavior needs to STOP.
This may be the solution

COOL Beachbum Please let me know if you get it? AND If you do? I hope it all works out for you.
I am lucky Boots is a very good boy he does not scratch on anything except his post. But he does like to tear away at one pillow of mine arrrggg. This is the second time I had to sew up my fav pillow.
But besides that, basically he is a good boy. I just want to get one for him someday, cause the commercial says, it helps keep their nails less sharp. And that sounds good to me!

Looks good but I have to wonder if you can buy refills and how much they cost.
That scritching sound would drive me insane.

You know what, Paloma your RIGHT! I never thought of that.
I think after a while, of "ohhhhh ain't that cute he is using it", the sound would get on my last nerve!
Something to REALLY think about, lol.

Hello, All -
I ordered and received EmeryCat - all FOUR of them. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. First of all, the ordering is a SCAM. If you select "2" for the get one free and only pay shipping for the 2nd one, they put the order in as TWO SETS and charge you $7.50 x 4 for shipping. There is NO REVIEW PROCESS before they charge you and their customer service is not even connected to the company that makes them. So that is $70+ for ordering them....
Now to the product itself. The sisel mat they use as the scratching surface is not soft at all - there is no emery surface underneath the scratching surface...the mat is totally hard and encrusted with a fine emery sand making the surface rough enough to tear the skin off the pads of your cat's paws. (I briefly rubbed my hand across the surface to spread the catnip out and scraped the palm of my hand to the point it was sore). I can't imagine what damage could be done to a cat's pad with it.
The "plastic" holder is thin - like the thinness of something molded for lightweight products to hold them in place.
My cats will not touch them - they are painful to even walk on much less dig claws into.
Thanks for that honest review pamelab and welcome to WKYN.
ETA: what works better than the emery cat is the Turbo. My cats all play with it and it has the cardboard scratching centre. Put some catnip in there and they are ready to rock and roll.
Here's our cat Jet playing with the Turbo:

PAMELAB

to the group AND THANK YOU so much for your HONEST evaluation of this product. I am so glad I posted this to get honest feedback and YOU provided just that.
Well I knew about the scam about Shipping.. So I was going to make sure I only ordered ONE! Its sad, but all these BOGO ad's on TV are all bogus. Cause they charge you a small fortune in S/H
So

to you for getting caught up in that mess.
AS for the product itself being like what you described. All I can say is OMG I am so grateful not to have purchased it.
Thanks a Million and Happy Postings to you

BTW have you tried to call the company to return that crap?
I know you will have to pay for shipping. But, at least you can get a refund on the product itself.

either way!
NKB: I don't think my Boots would like your Toy, He loves to run and chase stuff. So I play with him with a mouse on a string, he just loves that, lol
After having over 30 cats play with the Turbo I have to say that most of the time those older than 6 months don't play with it, and young kittens LOVE it and won't leave it alone (I've even had to remove the ball if it's too loud at night). I'm not saying that that's true of all cats, of course, but if you're tight on money then I wouldn't suggest it for an older cat.
Thanks Ziggy I thought so. Boots is 3 going on 4. I am sure this would look very lame to him, lol
I also had a turbo and only one of my cats played with it for a little while and then ignored it for a few years until I gave it away. Even so, the scratching post material in it wouldn't really wear down the nails that I can tell, but both of my kitties are declawed on the front. One of them does sharpen her back claws frequently, but honestly I just take the regular pet nail clippers and clip off the very ends of them and it's fine. I can't see how a scratching post with a little more grit would wear down the claws enough to really be effective.
Our little Jet still loves the turbo. You should see her whip that ball around. She really gives it what-for and the stops the ball with her paw and flings it in the opposite direction. It's hilarious to watch her.

I bought 2 of these and my 5 cats love them. We set then in the family room and the cats fight over who will be on them next. They love the catnip and the toy keeps them busy. All 5 have trimmed claws now. I am just looking for refills for them. Order one and get the 2nd one fee. Just pay shipping so I got 2 for $35.00 and well worth the money.
