We were trying to keep it a secret so it could be a big surprise, but we've done a terrible job of keeping it under wraps so we have decided to go ahead and share the great news: Jason and I are getting remarried in Las Vegas in two weeks, and it's going to be an Elvis wedding!
When we first got married 12 years ago, we toyed with the idea of eloping in Vegas because we just wanted to start a life together and didn't really care that much about the wedding itself. We ended up doing a very simple, traditional church wedding, mostly because we wanted our families there. Over the years we talked about renewing our vows in Vegas, but never did. Now that we have the unique opportunity of having a second wedding, we decided to do it our way this time around. So, Elvis it is!
Needless to say, I'll be spamming the web with pictures and hopefully video afterward.
Sounds wonderful. It's always nice to be able to do things your way and not worry about pleasing other people.

Congratulations and I can't wait to see the photos.

Congrats! I'm glad things worked out for you two!
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you. I can't wait to see pictures - please share them with us! I have always thought Vegas would be a great place to get married. It's totally out of character for me but there's something about the kitchy-ness that I love!
I toyed with the idea of a Vegas-Elvis wedding, too. Either that or a St Louis Cemetery wedding on Halloween in New Orleans. Alas, neither came true. I could have done the cemetery wedding but DH proposed in November and we were moving from New Orleans to Maine in June of the next year, so there were no more Halloweens left for us in New Orleans. I didn't want to move and then get married in a brand new town with no friends and no contacts for stuff like a great wedding cake, so we did a paddlewheel boat wedding on the Mississippi River.

I look forward you to seeing your Elvis wedding photos!
I'm happy to report that the wedding was perfect and loads of fun. A limo picked us up from the hotel and drove us to the chapel where Elvis walked me down the aisle while singing "Love Me Tender". Then he did the vows and ring exchange (which of course ended with an Elvis "uh-huh"), followed by singing "Fools Rush In" while we danced. Then he gave us each a pair of Elvis glasses to wear while we had special Elvis vows where he had Jason promise never to leave me at Heartbreak Hotel and I promised never to step on his Blue Suede Shoes. For the finale, he had us get up on the stage with him to do a little kick-dance while he sang "Viva Las Vegas", which was hilarious because we were incredibly uncoordinated and not at all prepared to dance. The whole ceremony lasted about eight minutes, followed by about five minutes of photos, and then we were whisked off back to our hotel in the limo. It was simple and stress-free, the chapel took care of everything for us.
The best thing is, this wedding felt more meaningful and special than our first one. It was wonderful, and we're so happy.

Those would have been pretty funny! These actually came with the wedding package that we bought (the "Hound Dog Special") and Elvis gave them to us to wear during the special Elvis vows. He told Jason to "look deeply into your wife's glasses." I laughed through the whole thing, it was so awesomely silly. We're going to display them on top of a bookcase right next to our wedding pictures.
Could you pick the songs? I always loved "I can't help falling in love with you" and thought it would make a nice wedding song.

That's actually the second song he sang, I got the title of it wrong. I probably could have requested specific songs, but I didn't ask. The only deviation from the standard package I requested was a bouquet of daisies instead of roses, for everything else I figured they had the whole thing down to a science and it'd be best to just let Elvis do whatever he normally did.
Fun!
Nice dress.
That's an awesome wedding. A hell of a lot more fun than some rigid church ceremony. The looks on your faces show that you're definitely enjoying it.
How fun!! Congratulations!

My husband, also named Jason, and I have been married for 5 years and we had a very nice traditional wedding too. But we have always talked about getting our vows renewed in Vegas. But instead of Elvis, you can get married by the Grim Reaper! So we may do that one of these days.
