This weekend was one of two annual trials my local agility club, Southwest Agility Team (SWAT), puts on. I had a good time, mostly because I've made great strides in my agility skills. My dog Troy and I stayed together and qualified many times. Many seasoned agility runners complimented me on my handling skills and said how much they loved watching Troy run. Doing dog agility has always been just a dream, up until last year, and now here I am getting all kinds of positive feedback. A lot of this is because I decided to up and move to what seems like the middle of nowhere, Rio Rancho NM. This town has some very talented agility folks. My trainer volunteers her time. The charge I pay to take her class at Sandia Dog Obedience Club goes to the club, not her. She is a great person with tons of patience and a positive attitude.

I was worried Troy would go up the frame instead of the tunnel. He loves contacts because he gets treated at them for staying put until I tell him to go. It is a discrimination trap with the tunnel opening set close to the A-frame. You also watch a video from last year. It was our very first run. There is quite a difference.
Dee, my trainer, told me she really really liked how I trained the contacts instead of just letting him run through them without stopping. Training the contacts will come in very handy when we're running elite runs (we're in novice now).
