This appeared on our local freecycle this week:

I have a free male cat that needs a good home....he is about a year old and I
cant give him the love and attention that he needs because I have a newborn on the way next week..he is a indoor cat and very loveable and affectionate and loves to be petted....please let me know

Notice the cat is ONE YEAR OLD. For crying out loud. Stupid bitch - she hasn't even had the stupid baby yet and she's already kicking the cat out. I'd love to email her and tell her what a jerk she is!
E-mail the stupid bint!
Set up a different e-mail account if you don't want your e-mail showing in your reply (does that happen with FC or just Craigslist?).

Better yet....just reply w/ a new post (if you can) so everyone can see your response! Trust me...there are a lot of people that will be siding with you, including me Wink

These people that think that pets are disposable. Just giving it away like it is some used item. She can't even care for a cat responsibly....imagine how she will be with a child? One that she cannot just give away on Freecycle.
I hate seeing things like this but I'd rather the animal be adopted than be in a home where it isn't cared for.
This is one of my pet peeves. An animal is not like a sweater that you can just get rid of when you are tired of it. If someone isn't responsible enough to take care of a cat (or dog), they sure as hell shouldn't be having kids.
Kills me every time I see an ad like that. And of course, when the kid is old enough to ask it will want a puppy/kitty and she'll run right out and get it for the kid. I don't see why taking care of a cat would be so difficult that she would have to get rid of it once she had the kid.

Because don't you know that if a pregnant woman even touches kitty litter the kid will DIE horribly?!?! Never mind the fact that cats and humans have coexisted for thousands of years, the media said it was true.
Ugh. What an asshole. I see this from time to time on my local list. I'm sure they get an earful. My area's full of animal people. LOL!

Look at it this way, though: The cat may find a new home, instead of being dumped at the shelter, on a whim.

(If I didn't look for the silver linings, I'd be a lot less healthy, is all I'm sayin'.)

When I was growing up, my family did not do this. New baby? Great! Teach the kid how to coexist with the family pets, because they aren't going anywhere!

I hate people like this.
