Maybe I am an unusual cat owner. I let little Ihu sniff my dinner most every night because she parks her fanny on the back of the couch while I eat, waiting for snuggle time after I am done. She usually sniffs, gives me one of those 'you really eat that?' looks, and settles down. Of course, if it is tuna, salmon or turkey - she gets a little excited, and usually has already had a small taste put on her plate. Sometimes if I am eating yogurt or ice cream , she wants a little lick. Regular milk is not interesting to her. But... The other day I was drinking buttermilk and let her sniff the glass. She stuck that little nose way down inside and started lapping away. I was in shock. And it was so funny, the next night she was all excited to sniff the glass, but alas it was just regular 2%.
Anyone else have something odd like this that their cat goes nuts over? My first cat was wild about 'poultry seasoning' blend spices, acted like it was cat nip!
LOL ozarkmoon I am glad I am not the only one who spoils my cat with table food.
Ok well get this list.
Boots goes nuts over,
Any kind of cheese. I swear I think he must have been a mouse in a former life, lol
He even eats cream cheese & cottage cheese!
Not to mention
Sour cream, which is very unusual imho.
whip cream of course cause it is sweet, lol
butter
Assorted nuts. Especially peanuts, lol.
Wheat Thins?? YES My cat likes those crackers go figure! Very unusal imho, lol
Pancakes, well one time he ate some. But the last time he just licked the butter off of it

STEAK of course he goes crazy for any kind of beef
HAM
TURKEY
CHICKEN his all time FAV!
I had a can of chicken to make chicken salad and he went nuts. He was on top of me rubbing me like crazy. And normally with any of the foods I listed above. One or 2 bites and he is gone. But not with Chicken
He kept on wanting more. He had about 6 tiny bites, lol.
So I nick-named him Chicken belly, lol.
And of course he likes the usual Salmon & Tuna as I am sure all cats love as well, lol
But I don't mind sharing cause he is my snuggle lump, lol
He loves to crawl under the various soft blankets we keep on the couch to cover ourselves from his claws when he starts to run around the house like a crazy cat. But when he is done running, he gets under the covers and becomes a lump on the couch. And he is content to sleep there for hours at a time.
DH & I joke about it.. "Our son the lump" LOL
O.T: Yes due to my hubbys lack of employment. I was forced to stop my NutriSystem diet. Just in case anyone was wondering about all the food in the house, lol
We had a dog who was mad for beer. You didn't dare put a glass down within her reach.
Penelope is a big beggar and I let her sniff things while I'm cooking. If it's something she doesn't like (fruit, veggies, anything remotely healthy), she'll come back to try again in about five minutes, even if I'm still working on the same thing (i.e. I cut lots of strawberries on Sundays to prepare for our lunches throughout the week).
She loves all the usual "cat" things - fish, cheese, what have you.
She really circles like a shark for dropped potato chips, though. Especially Doritos.

LOL Daria thanks for reminding me, Boots loves Doritos too

Ali will eat anything. He even eats SALSA! He adores yogurt, especially. Whenever I open a container of it he comes running. Udu, OTOH, won't touch either of those things. She's very finicky.
All of our dogs love vegetables and fruits. We even call one the "Fruit Loop" because she won't leave us alone if we're having any. They fight over baby carrots.
We had a Peke-a-poo when I was a teen who loved pinto beans. And green beans and carrot. Oh, and peeled white grapes. Very odd dog, but old Sport was a darling.

Animals are like people. They have individual tastes just like people.
I had a tabby who liked broccoli florets.
One of our cats will eat popcorn and bread. (So much for that carnivore thing.)
I had a dog when I was a kid that would eat pea pods and Mom once gave him a banana peel. That is weird enough, but when given leftover roast or beef stew he would separate all the bits. Stew meat, here. Carrots, here. Potatoes here. and eat in portions, but hold off on the carrots because he hated carrots.
My male cat loves Twizzlers! What a weirdo.

I decided to teach my young kitten a lesson by putting chili powder on a Dorito chip so that he would stay away in future. He tasted it and ran away, but my room-mate's cat started to lick the chip clean and eventually even moved the chip aside so that she could get the chili powder under the chip.
My cat has been known to eat brussel sprouts.
Sad to say Boots is attracted to the smell of Chocolate.
Like mother, like son I guess, lol. But the only chocolate I have let myself have these days is in the form of Chocolate flavored Rice Cakes.
But yet Boots still snuggles on me and rubs me to death thinking he will get some.
But I lay the law down on him, as Chocolate of any kind is just as bad to cats as it is to dogs.
But really Boots Rice Cakes? LOL
You got to do better then that, LOL
I had to bump this thread cause I just found out the other day that Boots of all things Loves to eat "Pringles" Potato chips.
He was all over me when I had the can open. And I was having that with my sandwich for lunch. I tried to give him some of my sandwich cause I know he likes tuna, but not this time. He wanted them Pringles! LOL He must have had 4 little pieces before he gave up and said he was full, lol.
One thing about my boy he is not a piggy when it comes to human food, except for Chicken, lol.
Eli LOOOOVES canteloupe. Too bad, because I hate it and rarely have it in the house. Actually he likes all melons, and I do eat watermelon and he usually wants some.
He also loves corn. Little weirdo.
I just found out tonight that Boots like Kosher Salami

That warms my heart, LOL
I had to bump this thread cause I found out Boots likes eggs.
I had some scrambled eggs the other day and he actually ate some.
Then when I was making some french toast this morning he almost put his head in the raw eggs & Milk that I had just whipped up, lol.
Well I guess it stands to reason he would like eggs, cause he LOVES Chicken so much, LOL But I never thought to even offer a cat some egg, lol.
We have to guard our food, because Tori will eat ANYTHING. It's not like he doesn't get enough to eat! He will just get right up on the table and eat whatever is there.
I've heard that animals that behave that way--even when given plenty to eat--often have come from hoarding situations. I got him as a kitten, but I suppose it's possible that was the environment.
Jen M.
LMAO, OK have you ever heard of a cat eating bananas?
Well my Boots had some last night, lol.
I don't know if he really liked it or not. But he did EAT some, lol
I think he likes the smell of it more then the actual taste of it.
But every time I have a Banana he is right there bugging me for it.
LOL
