I'll be in the market for a new car soon. I want to unload mine while I can still get some good money for it. Traditionally, I run them into the ground but I figured I'd rather get some good coin.

Anyway, I'm looking or something sporty with some guts. I want to be able to drive it in the winter (I don't want to have a winter beater). It has to to be cute and have at least a V6 engine.

There are so many options out there it's tough to chose. I've driven a Saturn for the past 15 years so it's ti,e for a change.

Also what are the pros and cons of leasing vs. buying? I've never leased a car before.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks guys.

Leasing is good only if:

1 -- You don't drive the car much (the over-miles charges will KILL you otherwise)

AND

2 -- You like to have a new car every 3 years-ish.

As to cars, DH and I are also looking, but our south Georgia choices may not be appropriate for snow country! Anyway, we are looking at the Toyota Camry and the Nissan Altima, both of which come in a V6 version. They can also be more cool looking, with the addition of spoilers, etc. I understand, too, there's a market for skins for the Altima body.

Both also have this feature where you can switch on the fly from Drive to Stick, and drive manually. It's pretty cool!

Gas mileage is in the 20s to 30s, but that's for the 4 cylinder -- will be lower for the six, of course.
My hubby who is an expert on cars agree Toyota's are very dependable cars. And a Camery is a nice choice if your looking for something sporty.
And a Honda Accord is nice too.
But he says buying a car is a very personal thing. It should be YOUR choice only.
If you do buy, its a sad thing to admit or say, but please, for your wallets sake never BUY American car. Lease it yes, Buy it no!
They rarely last as long as a foreign car does!
Imho of course.

As for Leasing vs Owning. Imho I prefer leasing.
And Short term leases are the best. If you drive 1,000 miles a month you should not have any problems going over the lease limit.

And as PG stated, its nice to get a new car every 2-3 years.

The downside to leasing is the up front money in advance. But if that is not a problem. Leasing is great. You don't ever have to worry about the added expense of new tires, or batterys, etc etc.
Just stay away from anything longer then a 3 year lease.

We own a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse it is sporty as all get out. But, it is awful in the snow.
(We use to lease Fords every 2 years. And we loved that too.
But life hit us with some set backs and we could no longer afford to lease.)
So I would not reccommend the Eclipse for winter weather. But Mitsubshi has other new models too. So that is another avenue to look into.
Goodluck in whatever you deside to do NKB Smile
