LOL yeah, I like them. I don't know why. Go figure.
PrairieGirl Wrote:CNK -- some of them are interesting. I like watching the kitchen gadgets ones when I'm bored.

I do the same thing. Sometimes, it's a laugh for me because I make it a game trying to spot how crappy the thing really is. For example, i'm very skeptical about the "Awesome Auger". It looks like an over-sized drill bit that is supposed to do hard yard work in seconds. But if you notice in the commercial, pretty much all the dirt they are using it in is loose, tilled soil or mulch. I want to see that thing power through dry, rock-hard Missouri clay. Then I would probably buy it.

However, I'm also the kind of person that screams, yells, and jumps up and down on the couch when I watch The Price it Right. So, you could probably see why I would watch those for entertainment.

PrairieGirl

JMK -- Dh and I do the same thing! "That would never work in Georgia clay", or "Why don't you slice a REAL onion on that thing!" and "So, it cuts through a brick, but try cutting through angel food cake without squishing it!" It's a spectator sport.
Amusement factor is the main reason. But I don't know anyone who can watch a whole one.
Even when I get sucked it by "Bob's your uncle" line, I think I only last about 5 minutes.
And I can't stand anything with Ron Pepeil (or whatever his name is)
Exercise videos are annoying too. I don't care if it is TaeBo, Zumba, or Tony Powers. (Obviously, I have major cranky issues with Chuck Norris)
The exercise ones! I've seen those when they are on TV at the gym if I go at an odd time, like a weekend afternoon. I have to agree, they are funny, especially when you are seeing one in that environment. The crap like "8 minutes a day". HAHA! I can guarantee that 8 minutes a day will NEVER make you fit!
I think you guys have sold me on the Magic Bullet! I see it all the time in a few stores, but I keep making due with my blender... Jo knows how I make due in my kitchen. Wink

I liked the Space Bag I bought to store my feather comforter, but then my Dyson ended up sucking the important little rubber bit right out of it.

We have Mighty Putty and Tim loves it.

I've used Proactiv before. It worked well enough the first time, but then I deployed and couldn't keep getting it. When I tried it again, I didn't get any results.

We've gotten (I forget the name, but Billy Mays sold them) the competitor for the Sham Wow towels. I'm disappointed in them. They don't sop stuff up at all, but it's nice to have something other than my kitchen towels to put down under the dishes that don't go in the dishwasher.

I think that's about it.

Only tangentially related: I do have a SLANKET that is superior in every way (size, material, colors) to the Snuggy, which is sold on TV. We saw it featured in an article about odds and ends inventions in a computer magazine (with a pic of a guy using his laptop from within the warmth of said Slanket, of course) a year before Snuggies ever showed up on the market. I joked about wanting it, and ended up getting it as a Christmas present. Now it's one of my favorite things in the house.

I hate that commercial....of course DH loooves the commercial, only because of the part where Christy Brinkly is moaning, "Oooooooh, it's fantastic!"...while her legs are open wide to the world.

Nice.

Anyway, I have the Green bags, but my food still seems to go moldy. I really want to try the Ped Egg (for rough feet).
I've been eying the Magic Bullet for awhile. It looks amazing!
The other item I want to order is the inStyler hair straightener......suppose to straighten hair without the kinks and bumps that a flat iron leaves behind. The only thing is, I am scared that it will roll my hair into a big tangled knot around the barrel.

Anyone ever try the Ped Egg or the inStyler????
I use Trader Joe's equivalent of Oxyclean, and it works really well. I tried Space Bags years ago, but we don't have that much "puffy" stuff to store, so it wasn't really worth it.
I bought that Smooth Away kit at Target (I had a coupon!). It is superfine sandpaper. Gets the legs smooth when the sandpaper is new, but then it doesn't work. And I have NEVER had as many ingrown hairs in my life as I now have after using this product!
I am intrigued by the little mascara wand-looking thing that grabs hair out of drains. DH could attest to my need for this product *cough*.

I have the Ped Egg. I really like it. The metal shaving part works great and doesn't hurt at all. And it keeps all the shavings inside until you empty it so it doesn't go all over the floor. I recommend it.

And TO ANY ONE WHO IS CONSIDERING THE MAGIC BULLET:

If you see it on TV, you will notice that they mention that you get the "bonus" full sized blender top and juicer. If you want those bonus items, you MUST buy your magic bullet from the Magic Bullet Website. You will notice that they list those bonus items on the What you Get Page.

But, if you buy the Magic Bullet from a store, like Kohls, you WILL NOT get the bonus full blender top and juicer!

I made that mistake and in order to get the blender top, I had to buy the extra pieces on ebay.

Well, I'm a total nerd. XD When I'm working online, I usually have the tv on for background noise, and if there's no awesome medical shows on, I have it set on one of the infomercial stations. XD For some reason, I love vacuum ones. I also LOL at the cooking ones, like the Magic Bullet where it's like "dinner in 8 seconds!" Yeah, provided someone has already gotten the veggies out, washed them, put them in neat little bowls, and cleans up everything.

Oh, and I also bought that Wen stuff for your hair, and that was total shit. Doesn't work on thick hair. It smelled and felt really nice when you were washing it, though. I can be a sucker for hair stuff because my hair is so hard to control - I'll try anything! Well, provided it's cheap. XD
I love the Snuggie commercials because they are just so bad you have to laugh. I mean it's a bathrobe worn backwards basically but god knows it is so hard to answer your phone when your hands are trapped by your sleeves. The best is when the people are at a football game and you can see the extras are trying to laugh at them for not looking ridiculous.

That was exactly the video I thought of when I made my response. I mean how hard is it to use a bathrobe?
I won two Ped Eggs (as one auction) today. So, I'll let you know how I like it in a week or so.
Okay, has anyone tried, bought, or do you know anyone who has the Xpress-Redi-Set-Go little grill cooker? I saw several parts of the infomercial this afternoon and it seemed like a cool way to cook food for one or two peoples. It is a little pricey, but if it can bake, grill, cook, braise and do breakfast, lunch *AND* dinner, it might be worth it. Anyone have the scoop on it?

Eddy - you are cracking me up!! You are absolutely right. Did you see on Yahoo news that there was a snuggies fashion show. They even trotted out small dogs wearing snuggies. I found the link here

I've seen the commercial and I think I want one too. What gets me every time I see it is that they actually show all the dead skin flakes fall out of the full Ped Egg. It is just so completely gross to have to see that on TV!! Corey and I always say, "Ewwwww" every time we see it.
I've never bought anything from an infomercial but I do occasionally watch them for laughs. It's funny to see some of the psedo-scientific claims they make.

One of the funniest and weirdest infomercials I ever saw was for a product called the Dermaltone Facial Exerciser. Basically it was this small device that resembled a remote control and you put lotion on the end where there were these two metal electrode-type thingies. Through a low dose of electricity, it is supposed to cause the muscles of the face to twitch thus exercising them so you look younger. It was really amusing watching the womens' faces twitch, their phony reactions to the products, and the host (I swear she had plastic surgery herself)! Too funny.

And even funnier about the Snuggie, they make them for dogs now too (too funny):

I had thought about getting one, but when I searched for reviews, there were ALOT of bad reviews. Some said the teflon stuff flakes & scratches real easy. Here are some reviews:

I saw an infomercial on a similar grill called Big Boss Grill (I think). Vicky Lawrence did it. It has alot more accessories - you can make donuts & waffles with it. And the pieces come out & can go in the dishwasher. Big plus for me - I hate trying to wash my George Foreman grill.
