-- I'm so numb I have no idea how to even answer this question. On the surface, it would be an 8 or a 9 -- there is nothing specifically wrong with my job to the outside viewer... it pays well, has great hours, lots of autonomy. But there is poison in the teapot, and it's deadly for the soul. I would say a 3 or 4 based on the sheer corruption under the surface. Believe it or not, I've had a worse job, but this one is awful.
2. Have you ever lied on your resume or during an interview?
-- not 'lied', but I've adjusted resumes to fit the job by leaving out chunks. I have far too much experience in too many different fields, so I need to focus on the job at hand and what I've got to get me THAT job. I have always felt that not disclosing everything was the same as lying, although most people don't feel that way. I think holding back information is lying, and so by that estimation, it would appear that I've lied. I have never put something on a resume that was patently untrue, nor have I ever claimed to do something I haven't done. My problem is the opposite. Not revealing all.
3. What's the worst and best job you ever had?
-- Best was (believe it or not) the laundromat I worked in just before I got this job. It was minimum wage -- I wore a smock and did wash-n-folds. I loved it!! It smelled awesome and was stress free and I loved it. Worst job was cataloguing for a private firm that did ReCon (retrospective conversion) of catalogue cards -- we typed them out as we read them out of the card catalogue drawers. The screens were green on black, and I have UV damage in my eyes that makes that colour combo impossible for me to see without massive headaches. I was typing once and lifted my hand off the keyboard to type the ISBN number (ten digits) on the keypad to the right. The boss was looking over my shoulder and told me that that action wasted precious seconds and I would have to learn how to type numbers using the numbers at the top of the keyboard. I told her I typed 80 WPM with 100% accuracy and she said she didn't care -- she had the statistics to prove it was a colossal waste of precious seconds. Seconds per card added up to minutes per day, and she was a penny pinching micromanaging freak.
4. Do you like your current job?
-- No.
5. If you could have any job, what would it be?
-- I think bus driver.
1. On a scale of one to 10, rate your job based on satisfaction, happiness, salary, fulfilment
Satisfaction -- 10
Happiness -- 10
Salary -- 6
Fulfillment -- 9
2. Have you ever lied on your resume or during an interview?
I have conflated dates to cover a spotty employment history, but that was back before I had a career, and was just covering up the fact that I was at McDonalds for only two weeks, or whatever
3. What's the worst and best job you ever had?
Best is the current job -- lecturer in English. Worst -- practically anything before that, but I'd say the absolute worst was a temp job Kelly Services sent me on -- I was directed to a desk, no one talked to me, no one told me what I was there for, and so I sat at the desk cleaning it and rearranging it for four hours. The guy who directed me to the desk came by at quitting time all happy and asked did I like working here -- when I told him I was not given anything to do, he started screaming at the top of his lungs at the people around me. It was the end of my four hour shift, and I felt horrible -- I sat there making up work for four hours, then had to listen to a tirade from an obviously incompetent manager screaming at his thoroughly demoralized crew. I would never have taken another job there, even if I had been asked.
4. Do you like your current job?
LOVE IT! My workplace and peers (with the exception of one or two) are fantastic! I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
5. If you could have any job, what would it be?
Paid ungodly sums of money to sit at home, travel, whatever, and answer to no one. In short, big-time lottery winner!
1. On a scale of one to 10, rate your job based on satisfaction, happiness, salary, fulfilment: 3.
2. Have you ever lied on your resume or during an interview? I've played with dates on my resume.
3. What's the worst and best job you ever had? Best - I worked at a very non-busy hotel at the front desk. Most of my day I read, watched TV and movies, talked on the phone, did laundry, did exercise videos, etc. - all while getting paid. I also lived there so I went to work in my slippers. I also worked overnights a few times a week, when I actually got paid to sleep! Worst - I don't really have a worst, other than where I am now. Sigh.
4. Do you like your current job? NOOOOOOO.
5. If you could have any job, what would it be? There are several jobs I'd love to have. I'd love to work at a music venue and help put on concerts and shows. I'd love to work at another non-busy hotel - in like Stowe in the winter and Mexico in the summer.
But, the two jobs I'd REALLY love are 1. Before downhill ski racers start down the hill there's someone at the top patting and rubbing their legs and butts. I think I could do a good job at that. 2. There's also a person who puts up the little start gate just before the racer goes off. I'm guessing I could do that OK as well.

5 - I enjoy what I do, but hate having to do everything with no assistance from the 2 full-time people in the office. Plus, it would be nice to have 40 hours a week instead of 20.
2. Have you ever lied on your resume or during an interview?
Like others, I have tweaked dates to make empty spaces appear less so.
3. What's the worst and best job you ever had?
Worst lasted just 2 hours - make calls to see coupon books. My targeted area was retired and poor people.
4. Do you like your current job?
Sort of - really would like to do it full-time and with a different supervisor.
5. If you could have any job, what would it be?
Teaching life skills and coaching clients in how to achieve their goals.
1. On a scale of one to 10, rate your job based on satisfaction, happiness, salary, fulfilment
satisfaction -5
happiness - 5
salary - 10
fulfilment - 5
2. Have you ever lied on your resume or during an interview?
I used to lie in interviews about one thing: I had a big gap in my resume because I had quit my job to move to California and be with a guy, but he dumped me right before I was supposed to move. That's a story an employer should not have to hear, so instead I said that I quit my job and moved back in with my parents to take care of my sick mom.
3. What's the worst and best job you ever had?
Best in terms of money, perks, great boss and office camaraderie:
The German bank I used to work at in NYC.
Best in terms of office camaraderie:
The crappy clearing firm I used to work at in NYC, until our 2 bosses quit.
Best in terms of actual fulfillment and enjoyment of the actual work:
The record distributor in PA, and the music conference in PA.
Worst jobs: There were several temp and perm jobs where I just did not last very long. Most of my retail jobs in my 20's sucked. And I've had some sucky temp jobs too.
4. Do you like your current job?
I like it OK. I like my boss, the company, the money and perks. I don't like most of my co-irkers or the actual work I do.
5. If you could have any job, what would it be?
I would enjoy being an event planner, something managerial in the entertainment industry, or working in the public health field doing STD counseling, education, outreach and lobbying.

I am SO glad I wasn't drinking a hot beverage when I read this!

1. On a scale of one to 10, rate your job based on satisfaction, happiness, salary, fulfilment
Fairly N/A. I'm unemployed.
Satisfaction:8 It's nice to not have to put up with the outside world.
Happiness: 6 I feel like there is so much I'm missing out on.
Salary: 1 When I see some of the people making six figures a year it angers me.
Fulfillment: 1 Honestly, what is the point of existing?
2. Have you ever lied on your resume or during an interview?
Yes. I've tried to make it look like I'm actually excited about working.
3. What's the worst and best job you ever had?
Best would be computer lab consultant in college. Easy job, nice hours, felt like I helped people.
Worst would be data entry. It was so bad that I left for lunch and never returned.
4. Do you like your current job?
Well it is nice wearing a t-shirt and undies not doing anything other than drinking beer, but I'd like to feel more useful.
5. If you could have any job, what would it be?
Professor of Egyptology at a university.
1. On a scale of one to 10, rate your job based on satisfaction, happiness, salary, fulfilment
I'm horrible at these scales. They are so relative! I'll avoid it by saying that I would rate all of them high. I could get a higher salary if I worked elsewhere, but my satisfaction and happiness would decrease so I'm happy with what I have.
2. Have you ever lied on your resume or during an interview?
Nope. I keep my resume to a max of 2 pages and 4 jobs - always tailoring it to the most relevant jobs for the advertised position - so I didn't need to explain the gaps. I might have been creative with some of the job titles, but those were for small companies where they didn't have official titles and the person at the company was fine with my suggestion.
3. What's the worst and best job you ever had?
Worst: Spent a summer doing computer work for a woman who was supposed to be a woman's-rights activist but treated her employees (all female) like crap. She was also completely computer-illiterate which was impressive as she was a professor in the computer department.
Best: My current one. I like to travel, and they happily send me off on the most odd of places.
4. Do you like your current job?
Definitely.
5. If you could have any job, what would it be?
For now I'm really happy with mine and I don't know if I would change. Maybe in 20 years? I travel a lot, but not more than I want. I get to play with fun toys. A few more dollars would be nice as I would like to do some big renovations on my home and I can't do them *and* do personal travel and all the other things that I want to do in my life, but I'll eventually solve that problem over time. In an ideal world I can want it all *now*!
1. On a scale of one to 10, rate your job based on satisfaction, happiness, salary, fulfilment
satisfaction: 6
happiness: 5
salary: 4
fulfilment: 4
2. Have you ever lied on your resume or during an interview?
The only thing that I have done is try to appear more experienced that I really was.
3. What's the worst and best job you ever had?
The best job is when I was working as a clerk for the federal government. I was working as a student and the pay was really good.
I was working a lot by myself and I loved that. The worst is when I was working at a convenience store. I really wanted to work so I was ready to do almost anything. I lasted about two days.
4. Do you like your current job?
Honestly I don't really like my job. It pays the bills but I don`t see myself working in a call center for 10 years. I'm just doing it to gain more experience and then move on.
5. If you could have any job, what would it be?
Anything dealing with history, arts or jewelry. Anything at the government would be good.
