I woke up this morning thinking I wanted to finally move Boots things around the house so he knows that there is more then one room to the house.
I picked up his litter Box and I showed him where it will be.
When I looked down on the white towel his litter box and food dish were on. I saw a mess of itty bitty tiny ants running around on the towel. Yikes! So,
I picked that up and threw it in the trash.
I picked up his food and water I had to dump his food ants were all in
his new silver bowl. So I Cleaned out both his bowels
I sprayed the area and tried to keep him away from there.
I put his big ass scratch post on top of the area that was sprayed.
So even if he goes next to it it should not be too big a problem.
But I put his bed next to mine and his food on top of the old desk.
I cleaned off some on a desk that we have in the master bed room.
And I did the best I could in getting rid of what I saw.
As for Boots. Today I managed to show him where his litter box is 3 times. So,
And the rest is up to him. I just hope he knows where to find it on his own.

ITMT, I go through this shit every year. If it's not itty bitty ants its the great big black ants.
I thought we were done with them when we had the house sided a few years ago.
But I guess they managed to find their way into our home once again

Its not like I have a messy home with garbage lying around.

I even had bought a huge comntainer with a spray hose of some stuff called "Ortho home Defence Max" This big ass bottle has been sitting
in my kitchen floor for, Oh, I would say almost a year now.
And STILL my darling hubby, has not made an effort to use it.Banghead
Well that my friends is going to stop this weekend.

I am going to insist he spray our home ( outside of course)
with this goo. So that no more NEW ants get in.
I am getting might sick of these damn ants!

Edit: I wish I could do the job myself. But the bottle is too heavy for me to lift.Sad
Yeah, I hear ya. We've got ants AND spiders- loads of 'em year round!

I just sucked it up and called Terminix, they do an outside and an inside pest control treatment.

Our landscaping attracts ants like nothing else- they've done several treatments in one particular area and they just die off and come back after the neighbors kill the ones that run into their yards. Damned bugs.
You need to go to the local hardware store and by a box of Terro. It is a sugary liquid you put in drops onto cardboard square that come in the package. Put it in places where the cat does not go. I put mine on the kitchen counter near the faucet. Those little black piss ants get everywhere and this has them collecting the poisonous stuff and taking it back to the nest. It takes a little while and you might even have to put down a few more drops to get them all. But the stuff is worth its weight in gold!

For the kitty food, make moats. Get a larger bowl/tray and fill with water, then set the food dish in like an island. Sherbet goblets work well.
I get ants every freakin' year. They come in through my cable line. I'm just waiting for them to show up. Supposedly, cinnamon works well as a repellent.
They say baby powder and cucumber slices keep ants away. While I don't like to use pesticides, I draw the line at thousands of pests marching across my kitchen. Raid works every time.

ITA Lindsay RAID works everytime & besides I have always loved their
Commercials... RAID!!!!!! LOL
Plus the idea of laying out food products such as cucumber slices or cinnamon I feel imo, might just have the opposite effect.
But the good news is....... Since I sprayed the very first time.
I have not seen a new ant since.
Plus I don't mind sharing my big desk with Boots. He does not seem
to be a big eater. And he rarely eats the same time I am making out bills, so he is not in my way SmileHappycat

Thanks for all the helpful hints gang Thumbsup But for now the problem is in check.:banana:now
We seem to get ants when we keep the cats' food dish in a particular place in our kitchen, near a bunch of windows. Since we moved the dish more "inside," we don't have the ant problem.
We also have Terminix, paid a year at a time. They come out quarterly, but anytime in between, if we see ants or other bugs on the list of what they treat for, they'll come out for free when we call.
