WOW! There are 3 of you?!?!
yes, I know the story of Brown,HOWEVER, in the news stories they did not play his music. I was in a hotel Saturday and on the Today show, they had the wedding party as the guests and it was the first time I heard of this video, and they did not mention whose music was playing.
Oddly enough, some of the people who are saying they never heard of Chris Brown and Rihanna posted in this thread: http://www.wekidyounot.org/wkyn/showthread.php?tid=1520
I've been wondering about that thread. I'm glad you found it. I recognized her name - it's pretty memorable - but his name never stuck with me. I didn't know him from before and I guess I just didn't care enough to burn his name into my mind.

It's not especially memorable, is it? I would never have known about him if not for the battering. Maybe he should be required to change his name to something more rappster-ish, like Bang Bang Beater.
I'm in Canada and it was ALL OVER the news. On TV, talk radio, newspapers - everywhere. I'm not sure how anyone could have missed the story - I posted it on this very message board.

Having said that, I don't listen to his music and could not name one song that he does.
I saw the video and do know of Chris Brown, however I did not know that was his song on the video. I only know him as the guy who beat up his girlfriend, apologized, and they are back together. Didn't make the connection to the wedding vid until now.

As far as the wedding dance, I prefer it to traditional wedding marches. I've been to a few weddings with a more creative enterance than just having couples walk 8 steps behind each other. I like that the bride entered without having to hang on her father's arm(a tradition I despise).

No kidding. The dad "giving the bride away"? Talk about offensive. No way would I ever participate in that antiquated, sexist custom.
I feel slightly 'vindicated' as I brought it up at lunch yesterday with my coworkers. Of 4 scientists, 3 had not heard of Chris Brown or a wedding video at all (and they are all relatively well informed on national, international, and local issues) and one guy laughed maniacally and said that I obviously don't watch enough entertainment-type news.

It was on the mainstream news as well.

I rarely watch news, preferring to get news from the paper or on line, but as soon as you opened Yahoo - there was there was the video as featured on GMA (I think). Is GMA mainstream? I don't know.

I can understand how you could have missed the wedding march thing. I would not have known about it if I didn't see it on the Yahoo home page but Chris Brown? That story was everywhere.
I don't have a TV and therefore rely on only the radio and certain websites for my news (including streaming video of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report), and I think that I have specifically gravitated away from mainstream media sources that have Entertainment News. I also scan through headlines from the online sources (same as everyone), so unlike the TV news I can skip over the articles that seem less relevant to me.

Perhaps I have a gap in my news knowledge as a result, but we all have gaps (my focus is more on local events, national politics and events, international events mostly surrounding the (far) middle east and political and terrorism stories related to this, and science) and I'm happy with where I focus my attention. While reading through this thread I have to say that I have no regrets. I agree that violence against women (and men) is horrendous and should be addressed, but the actions of two celebrities shouldn't be the catalyst.

As an example, there appears to be an increasing number of incidents where the muslim and middle-eastern cultures are colliding violently with our national culture, and that is a problem that they are working on locally. I listen to and read about those stories.
Cannot comment either way, I missed the whole thing. And from what I am reading here, I am happy I did.
I have no idea what this is about. I know that Rihanna is a singer, probably in the R%B genre.
