Out of all the options, I could live without my cell phone. Even though I don't have a land line and this is my primary source of telephone communication, I could live without it. Outside of work, I don't talk on the phone much.
My one concern would be an emergency situation. How would I call for help at home?

Understanding that one needs computer for access, I picked internet. Cable tv here is a joke, don't have a cell, only use phone line for internet. It is my link to the outside world and for reading and writing stories.

Pie vote here. It wasn't that long ago (in the grand scheme of things) when none of these things were around. How did people survive? My parents are originally from eastern Europe, where they spent their childhood growing up on farms. Back then, they didn't even have electricity or running water and heat in the (arctic) winter was by wood burning fireplace-aka Little House on the Prairies lifestyle. You could guess what they would consider necessities-none of the above.

Internet. With the internet, you can watch cable shows through streaming video, talk to your friend with phones via skype and play solitaire or use google docs for whatever it is you'd have been using the computer for in the first place.

Internet.
I could easily live without the others as I do live without them. Mostly for the reasons that Jo mentioned.
I have a landline phone, and I would miss it but I'd still prefer the internet given that choice too.

I also picked Internet because with it I can do any of the other choices. I can even order pie!

If I had been asked without any choices offered, I would have said indoor plumbing, air conditioning, and the "mute" button. If there were no internet, I wouldn't need a computer. I hate cell phones; hell, I hate all phones. I'm perfectly happy reading.

I couldn't live without my computer or the internet. It's the primary way I stay in touch with current events and with the people in my life.
I also coudln't live without my Sirius receiver in my car. The other night on my way to work I listened to an analysis of the upcoming elections in Afghanistan on the BBC World Service. Then I started flipping around. I listened to tunes by Bo Diddley, The Clash and the Seekers. All before getting to work. Pretty awesome.
I could live without the TV and the phone. I only have my cell phone on in the morning after my show so DH can get ahold of me. I almost never talk on the phone except when Dad calls and then it's only for a few minutes.
When I first moved out of the house after college I lived in a small town where you couldn't get TV unless you had a powerful antenna or cable and I had neither. Didn't watch TV for months. Didn't miss it. The truly strange part is that I work in the TV business, but I often tell people, "I'm IN TV that doesn't mean that I watch it". I do watch my show but that's only because I'm in the control room and don't have much of a choice.

Internet. I don't use my cell much. I use the internet for banking and school - being in the UK countryside but through the US I can't really use a UK bank because I still have US bills to pay and we have to have our US account, but how would I have access otherwise? I'd hate to have to put school on hold; but most of the time I'm sans car with no transportation nearby, and I can't afford paying in British Pounds for college that's for sure. I use it to talk with my family, I look up driving directions, vacation info and booking, I get my vehicle taxed that way, look up recipes, etc. Y
eah who knows what I did before but I wasn't an adult, I wasn't in school, and my home bank was down the street. It has made my life a hell of a lot easier, and if that makes me "Plugged in" and too dependent on technology so be it. I don't care! Hell if it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't have met my husband. I'd be living in another country, who knows where, doing who knows what with who knows who. The internet has changed my life in every aspect right down to the last detail.

I don't think I could live without the computer / internet.
I use the computer for entertainment (photography, writing, etc...) and I use the internet for information - and entertainment.
Ditto what Jo said.

Opps, I voted Computer. But did not see that Interent was a seperate
subject.
I personally think of them as both. So I goofed. (My vote is really the Interent!)
But then I know there are many people who refuse to go on line?
And I think to myself, WHY?
Why bother having a computer if your not going to be on line. That is the whole point of having a P.C That is to stay connected, informed, and educated, lol
imho
But hey, to each their own I guess.
(sigh)
I sort of feel like "comic book guy" from the "Simpsons"
Do I watch the news on TV? "Heavens no I get my news from the Internet like everyone else under 40" lol I know I messed up his quote, lol. But that is the general idea

Internet all the way-most useful,IMHO.

The computer. The internet is useless without it.
Seriously, it's supplanted all other forms of entertainment for me for the most part. I can play games, watch television shows, listen to music, communicate, even talk to people and it's all in one package.

Internet. I already live without cable - have for years!
Cell phone - I love it but could live w/o it. I guess I'd have to get a landline again. But live w/o internet? No way.

This is true. I don't get why they are 2 different answers.

I guess I was thinking in terms of "what could we ALL live without"? Now, of course, I need a computer and the internet to do my job, as well as a lot of things it used to be difficult or impossible to do manually. But there are plenty of times I wish we had never invented certain things.
