I picked internet. I saw the other choice of computer. It made me think of just using it for typing in a journal (which I do an awful lot of) or keeping financial records. You could also play simple PC games too. But I LOVE the internet and I don't think I would be very happy living without being "connected." How could I be in touch with all these totally cool smart childfree people on this here forum?
I will cast my vote and join the masses. Internet all the way. Cable TV? ha! got rid of that. Cell phone? hate the dang thing, but i keep it for the occasional text message or the even more rare call. I see computer/internet going hand in hand, simply because if you didnt have a computer or a smart phone, what good would the internet be? I guess there are people who still use a PC that isnt connected, but I am sure most people are online in some capacity.

I don't understand this concept. A computer with no internet? That's like a pizza without cheese.
Seriously, I'm so addicted to the net that when I moved to Pittsburgh I made sure the net was on even before the heat. I need my internet!
Eddy, back in the olden days of whale oil lamps, we used computers to create and store documents, create art, and play hgames, among other things, like spreadsheets. Even now, I often use mine without being online.

Hey, I started using computers back in the early 1980s so I remember when the internet was still the AARPANET, BBSes were the main online option, and CompuServe still existed. It's just that today I can't imagine no net.
I mean just in the past month I think about all the things I've done on the net that would have been much more difficult to do without online access.
I wanted to look up a word whose meaning was unfamiliar. Dictionary.com
I wanted to pay my credit card. Discover.com
I wanted to play a game. Bigfishgames.com kongregate.com
I wanted to watch a tv show. Hulu.com
I wanted information about a movie. Imdb.com
I wanted email. Gmail.com Hotmail.com
I wanted directions to a place. Maps.google.com
I wanted a phone number. Yellowpages.com
Get the idea?
I could do every one of these things without the internet, but the internet just makes it easier. It honestly amazes me how much we can do on the net now.
Eddy, I don't disagree at all. I was just now without my computer for two days while it was in for maintenance. My spouse kept saying to me, "Can you go look up - oh, never mind." and "Have you heard from - oh, never mind."
But I watched some mindless TV and read a couple books and managed somehow! Like I did in the 60s. ;-)
It may be a generational thing. I love my computer and the internet, but I also enjoy a break from them. And if I'd never had it, I guess I wouldn't know the difference. But one thing is for sure: I'm in contact with a lot more people than I would be without it.
