I'm more interested in finding out what happened to all the animals that Michael Jackson had in the carnival on his Never Real Ranch.

Oh, yes, John Ritter was definitely another shocker.
I don't really get surprised by celebrity deaths. People die, no two ways about it. Even the famous.
Hey...haven't been here in a while. Smile

Out of the recent deaths, Michael Jackson's was a surprise but then again wasn't. He was only 50 and a huge star so that made it surreal, but at the same time, I had heard that he was suffering from health problems and using prescription drugs. One of which was Demerol that I read he would get injected with. So all in all, not really a surprise. Things pertaining to this that were discovered at his autopsy (pills in his stomach, needle marks on his body) have been leaking out and I supposed we'll get the fuller picture once the toxicology results come back.

It's hard to really think at the moment of all the deaths. Princess Di's was definitely surreal. I remember that one very vividly. I also was upset by Estelle Getty. Even though she was old and sick, I am a huge GG fan and her death being the first of the 4, was sad.
When a person is old and ill, like Estelle Getty and Bea Arthur, I am sad for myself when they die, but relieved for them. I also love the Golden Girls and watch them all the time. If Betty White died, I would be shocked. She's in excellent health and was just in a movie. Rue MccCLanahan has some health issues but I don't know what.

A friend of mine just died out in San Diego. He was only 62 but had health issues. Still, I thought he was pretty stable. Guess I was wrong, and now I am struggling with that. OTOH, my mother's best friend also just died, but she was ill, and she was 94. So that wasn't so traumatic at all.
Especially when you know that someone is gravely ill it isn't as big of a shock.

The celebrity death that really shook me was when Jim Henson died. I had loved everything Muppet and Henson Imagination. I even had looked into seeing what it would take to intern at the headquarters. His death was a huge blow and seemed like the first childhood icon passing for me.
I forgot about Henson. That one was definitely mind-boggling. Who dies of an infection anymore? I mean, at that point, when there were so many useful antibiotics available.
I'd have to say Princess Diana. Who would've thought she'd die so young? I just couldn't believe she was dead when I saw the news casts.

Michael Jackson was an inital shock but there were always rumours that he had probs with prescription drugs so it wasn't that surprising really.
Believe it or not, MJ's death DID surprise me, and so did Princess Di's.

The ones that AFFECTED me the most were Phil Hartman and Layne Staley of Alice in Chains. Never met either, obviously, but I was a big fan of both, and as such they were a big part of my life. Not to mention the fact that Phil Hartman's death was horrific.

Oh, thanks. We're getting used to it. Every so often, though, i catch myself wondering what he would think of this or that. Much more than I ever thought of Michael Jackson, dead or alive.
