I agree with you Lindsay - I did like his music as a kid in the 80's, Bad was the last of it though. Anything after was just not my thing and yeah he really turned freakish.
He was AMAZING before he started riding the Crazy Train. He was a fantastic entertainer, and a real icon for the era. And heck, I liked the music! Have you ever tried to sing along with the background vocals on "Wanna Be Startin' Something"? It's HARD! I've tried a million times, but they always destroy me at the repeating "mama say, mama sah, meh ma coo sah" part.
And his work as a child is just so much fun to listen to or sing along with.
I agree with the predictions about his estate, and the fight. Although as I understand it, there's really not much left. Someone stepped up and saved Neverland for him, but he sold a lot of his memorabilia not too long ago.
As a 39yo, Thriller practically defined my youth. MTV was still new - we were obsessed with watching the Thriller video...
I haven't paid much attention to him since then. The only way I knew he had a kid was when he hung it out over some balcony. Does he have other children?
CNK - he has 3 kids total.

Farrah

Michael Jackson..
See I told you all things come in 3's. But this time it was bam bam bam
Like almost in a row.
And Poor Farrah was totally overshadowed by M.J.'s death
Imho her work in the industry was just a valid as the next persons.
But sadly, she was not known world wide as Michael was.
And due to the fact that she was battleing cancer, people sort of expected it to happen.
Michael's death was a shock to everyone. Cause NO one knew he was even sick? ( heart wise that is, lol)
But for both of them to die on the exact same date
That inho was very sad indeed.

I always felt sorry for him. He was a good dancer and singer but he just went weird.
I loved the albums Off The Wall and THRILLER.
Sounds as though his death is somehow drug related. Not surprising in LalaLand.

Well we won't all know for sure till a few weeks from now. But I am sure the media will hype it up.
Its quite possible whatever drugs he was taking was for pain.
And speaking from one who lives in pain everyday, its real easy to
mix up your meds if your not paying attention to the clock.

M.J You were always so missunderstood in this judgmental world of ours.
I hope your at peace at last.
Love him or hate him, he defined a generation. He defined MTV. He defined music videos. He changed how we watched and listened to music.
NKB, I am happy to say he had no effect whatsoever on my appreciation of music, unless it was to make me appreciate other kinds more. I never hit the "mute" or channel change buttons as fast as I did when he showed up. At the moment, I am unable to watch the news because he infests it. I am baffled that a child-molester is being apotheosized.
I guess I am just lucky it wasn't my generation he defined, and that I've never watched MTV. In fact, he could be WHY I didn't.
RIP. Please go away.

Ditto. Completely. I remember when MTV was new and I was in middle school, and they might as well have called it the Michael Jackson Channel, it was awful. I couldn't watch any other videos without having to sit through his first, and I hated them. I put the TV on mute and read a book or something and looked up every few seconds waiting for a real video to be shown. Yuck. Everywhere I went yesterday where there was music on a PA system, it was all Michael all the time. Geez.
Some radio stations are playing Michael Jackson music for the whole weekend. There were some he did that were good, but I feel like most of his music wasn't that great.
Most music that he did that was good was early in his career. There are many others that have passed on that had better music and were better human beings than Michael Jackson.

I also take several meds for pain, but I get a limited supply each month and I have to be careful with them or I will run out early and will suffer for sure! These stars always seem to have these unlimited amounts of Scheduled drugs on hand at all times.
Man, Prez Bush was the person that changed many of the laws regarding the way that Narcs are prescribed now. The only thing it did was make most MDs totally paranoid with prescribing them and that made it harder for everyday folks suffering in pain to get their pain managed properly.
The rich and famous have always and will always have all the drugs they want.
